Wonder Age still needs lobby option

Issue is almost all unranked teamgames are decided by which team build wonder first. Same problem plagues lot of popular teamgame custom maps such as Settlers. And this isn’t just problem with Fimbulwinter or Nidhogg that get +300% stronger in addition to being cheaper in Wonder age, but rather every god power.

You don’t even need to be good player to hit wonder age fast, just use build order. In the past even if you had better economy you at least had to be able to 1vs2 in teamgames. Now you just spam god powers or myth units that farm heroes.

We need an option to disable wonder age in lobby settings, and maybe even an option that tunes wonder cost, buld time and effect down, so people can have the type of wonder age they want. I am sure having 25% cheaper godpowers and 33% better stats on myth units, but 66% cheaper and faster building wonder, would still feel pretty meaningful decision. At least it would be better than current “I win game now” building.

Wonder is supposed to be the “I win game now” building.

Maybe it needs some tuning but from my experience it takes a super long time to build. Maybe it is not enough for teamgames though. So what do you think that they take the AOE4 approach that has different wonder cost based on map size? (bigger the map, Harder to build the wonder.)

Big No ! On the contrary, we should even lower their cost to allow more players to create them. Basically, wonders take an enormous amount of time to build and are very expensive, so I think you should just not give a player the opportunity to build one, or else you’ll be hurrying as fast as they are.

Wonders are almost non-existent in 1v1, nerfing them more would render them obsolete, but in teamgames the developers can perhaps nerf certain problematic spells on a case-by-case basis.

Last but not least, wonders add more dynamics and fun to the game, and can be used to break out of difficult situations.

Btw I do think that adding the mentioned option wouldn’t hurt anybody. (except the devs of course since they have to go through the work). I do think that the QP and ranked settings are very important since they will be hosting the greatest number of games (and the greatest numbers of new players will first try automated matchmakings) and if there is an issue it does need to be tackled down in those modes first.

Yes they should have a option in lobby to disable Wonders just like being able to disable Titans is a option. When I host Comp Stomps I want to disable Wonders because I don’t want to use a Wonder to counter a Wonder the Comp could make.

So opening post exactly matches what you want, so next time read the post before saying “Big No!”. One of the goals was to make wonders more accessible, but weaker.

Suggestion was for lobby option and I don’t see 1vs1 players turning wonders off. Turning wonders off was purely for teamgames. You would in fact see more wonders in 1vs1 if people can opt for “weaker but cheaper wonder age”
