Presently, Dravidians struggle to deal with Mangonel pushes in Castle Age because they don’t have Knights and don’t have Redemption. A combination of Skirms and Mangonels can counter most of what the Dravidians try to use, including the Urumi Swordsman if the enemy sends a few melee units to distract them. While they did get Bombard Cannons, that’s only available in Imperial Age, which is far too late if the enemy is sieging down one of their Town Centers.
Nearly every other civilization in the game has either Knights, Redemption Monks, Eagle Warriors, or a fast-moving UU to deal with Castle Age Mangonels (i.e. Shrivamsha Riders). Dravidians lack these options, so it’s no surprise they have one of the lowest winrates on land maps like Arabia. Don’t get me wrong, Dravidians are very strong on water maps, but their water bonuses don’t do anything for them on full land maps.
For discussion, would giving the Dravidians access to Redemption make them too strong?
