Wounded scouts. Vision vs combat

So, lets say we had a change where the scout’s vision dropped to the same vision as a knight… if the scout was not at full HP. This would open up a really interesting strategy of denying an enemy their scouting, potentially delaying how quickly they find you. It would also make lone archers/skirmishers a serious threat to the viability of a scout’s job. Sure, the scout can kill them, but would you sacrifice a skirm to deny enemy vision of your base?

If caltrops were added that could be sown and would deal 2-3 damage to enemies that ran over them, as well as slowed the enemy for 5-6 seconds, this would further compound the ability to deny enemy vision.

:sob: I am not this garg. And I just love age of empires. I have been playing all week!

You arent him. His posts for the 50th time VPNing around his ban has already been deleted.

That said slow up on the post rapid fire please

Maybe low hp units do less damage but their base attack must increase

Why??? It would add so little to the game.

Because if the enemy does not know where your base is, he cant do a dark age or feudal age rush. By blinding his scout, you deny him the ability to find you, thus preempting the attack.

Why ruin a perfectly good game with over-complicated ideas? Make your own AoE game, like 0 A.D. and Wildfire games.

The game is not perfectly good. The meta is drush, or even just feudal archer rush for the one and only purpose of disrupting your enemies economy so you dont get raided. And if the archer rush gets caught out by skirms the enemy forfeits and calls it gg over a single fight. Thats not a good meta. The two teams are getting into fights too early.

Id say I almost want maps with no scouts, but then you dont get the utility of the scout for finding sheep, luring boar, etc…

Lol make a new game mode with no scout and all food under your TC…but practically in real history nations will train some horse army to explore the surroundings. Having scout is more realistic

Exactly. A game mode without scout is unrealistic, but its still too much rush imo. When games dont go into imp due to rushing in dark age? Sigh…

Why does a game have to go into imp?

Why shouldn’t an aoe2 game have a lot of rush? Like the aim of playing is to kill enemy units and vills and win, so rushing is a good way to achieve that so why not? Unless you are not playing conquest victory

Because with alot of rush, you get people surrendering in feudal or dark age. I was playing a 3v3, and the enemy all scout rushed my ally on the other side of the map. He died before my forces could get to him. Why? Rushing. Sigh.

In 1v1s its the same story. Rush or die. There is no imperial and sometimes even no castle age. They could literaly be deleted from the game, and no one would notice because they are all too busy dying in feudal age.

Sounds like a skill issue!!!

Howbis feudal aggression going to end the game if you both make army, trade each others army and wall? You only die if you don’t make army to defend yourself

The meta shifted a little more toward scout now with arabia being more open and archers upgrade cost increase.

Wow, you finally understood that you are playing a strategy game and not sims or minecraft. Your opponents arent friends.
