Xbox layoffs impacting AoE?

You’d need a multi-millionaire for that I’m afraid

Someone contact Scott Cawthon. He may be the only man for the job.

I think the restructurings already happened around when the ads became a thing, it’s only been announced recently.

This happens, corporate decisions taken are only visible to the public only months afterwards.

Why don’t you contact him?

I don’t think Activision will turn AoE into a Call of Duty now, the franchise is not big enough for that.

It seems like Xbox want’s to cut down on redundant middle management so they are merging that together. It doesn’t seem like they are firing any developers this time, beside apparently dissolving Team Ninja.

If we look at recent games published by Activision we notice they haven’t published much other then Call of Duty since 2020 List of Activision games: 2020–present - Wikipedia

The Crash Bandicoot and Tony Hawk remakes they released don’t have a battlepass of micro transations as far as I know. Only the new Crash Team Rumble tired to be a “service game”. But in the end it’s impossible for us to tall what if anything is going to change. And even once we see the future decisions it’s hard to tell how much we can blame Xbox, Acticision, Worlds Edge or Forgotten Empires for that.

They juiced all the juice out of it. Not a single drop of juice left. If you want to play an AoE game with juice in it, don’t play the Definitive Editions, they’re completely juice-free.

I have no idea what he means by “juice” here. Is it a typo?

Let’s hope the worst thing that happens is that we get regional or even unique unit skins.

It would be really sad if we don’t get more chronicles, no more campaigns or no more scenario Editor assets. They were on such a good way with this… I hope this doesn’t change now.

If they go full on CoD, I hope the Japanese get their own skin pack. Their look is too different (and iconic) to use a (potential) East Asia regional set.

So AoE5 is dead? Damn, that’s not good.

probably meant to say “juiced up”, or in the meaning of “give it some juice” - “to power”.

I just thought that it was a, somewhat freudian, misspeak.

Ironic, that the most honest thing Adam Isgreen has ever said about the game, is something he said by accident

if it means that they will butcher one fewer civ in aoe2, it’s reason to celebrate

It will mean end of life if they carry on like this

i would prefer end of life to what they are doing.

if they had done no changes since 2021, that would have been infinitely preferable than the avalanche of low quality DLC we have received, at least to me

a stable game can develop a healthy modding community. As it is now, many mods get broken with every update

Christ dude they’re real people!!!

I know you hate all the changes but they’re just game makers no need to wish this on them goddamn!

“end of life” means “end of official support for a game”, not humans dying

The reason Microsoft is restructuring Xbox is because other platforms have way higher margins (or so they say)

If Activision is now focusing on margins, this could be negative for people who liked the last DLCs since that start of chronicles. All these DLCs have a lot of love for the details. We got new animals, plants, eye candy, maps, new architecture etc.

But if they now focus on margins, that could mean less new things, that make aoe beautiful.

I am really worried for chronicles. I heard from ornlu that they sold worse while being relatively expensive. But they brought so much diversity assets, that are used in all mainline DLCs now, that it would be a shame if they don’t continue.

If they only focus on margin from now on we might get 3 mainline DLCs per year or even 1 civ per month with civs that fit current architecture, maybe even voice lines and barely no new assets. Campaigns as the most costly item might get reduced or skipped for new civs.

Maybe we also see more cosmetics DLCs. But I guess this would not sell as good. The past has shown, the only thing that drives sales is ranked civs. Maybe we even get chronicles into ranked to boost sales… get ready.

do not give activision any ideas, there is bound to be a ton of bad ones from them alone

I don’t mind people disagreeing with me, this is a forum after all

not sure how my posts are causing depressive thoughts, that’s certainly not my intent. i am sorry
