Xbox - Mini-Map won’t allow to move camera when enlarged

  • Game Version: 100.17.30764.0
  • Platform: Xbox
  • Input: Controller

Issue: after the update I am unable to move the map when the mini-map is enlarged. Now it moves a small cursor inside the enlarged mini-map but unable to move while that’s large. This makes it difficult to move around the map quickly.

Trigger Event: multiplayer quick match

Repro Steps: open mini-map with RB unable to move camera while enlarged, happened entire game.

Glad I’m not the only one noticing this. Was wondering if they added a different input to achieve this but starting to think they introduced another bug or worse, removed what I consider a key feature for controller players. I’ll be following this to see if there are any fixes pushed or if anyone has suggestions.

I also noticed this over the weekend, while I was playing campaign.

I thought that a setting might have gotten added or changed in the last update, but I couldn’t find any map settings, so that’s why I came to the forums to see if anyone else had this issue.

Hopefully, that gets fixed quick. It’s very frustrating as it is.

Actually, came on here today to report that / suggest it as a feature if it wasn’t already. Good eye.

I haven’t played this much yet, so forgive me if this is incorrect or old news. I may have figured something out when I played a bit of AoM:R on my lunch hour.

I saw in the last update that it stated “Expanded minimap inputs can now be performed while the controller RB button is held.” So, when I pull up the map, one stick “zooms” and makes the square showing my current location resized, but the square does not move around the map. The other stick moves the little cursor around.

However… when I move the cursor around to the part of the map that I want to see, then press Y, it snaps me to the right place on the map.

Is this the way it worked before the update, or is this the “expanded inputs”?

You’re right, when I expand the mini map and scroll to a spot on the map and press Y it takes me there which I find neat now that I know about it.

At the same time, I’d still like to have the option to enlarge the mini map and pan around that way, especially on console.

This is the info I needed! Would’ve been nice if this was made more clear and of course I pressed almost every face button except for Y. While it took some getting used to I think it works fine and electives the same thing but still may be a bit slower of a method so being able to do both somehow or choose in settings would be nice.

I have tried this method and it still does not take me to the new location, the only controller inputs that work while the minimap is enlarged are the flair and the view toggle. Would love to see this bug fixed or the change reversed, and would love to see an option to increase pan speed while holding RB as well

UPDATE- After testing, the bug is specifically confined to when you have the controller settings set to “hold” versus “press”. If you have the settings on “press”, you can move the cursor after pressing RB by pressing Y, but this functionality does not work if you are holding down RB and try to press Y. This is incredibly annoying as time consuming, as pressing B to cancel radials already is bugged and often takes a few presses. Please fix this bug so you can use the Y move functionality with the hold menu option!

So, I’m wondering about something, after reading your post. The update, if read a specific way, did state “Expanded minimap inputs can now be performed while the controller RB button is HELD.” I have my Settings for buttons set to “Both” (Press and Hold), which would explain why I didn’t catch it like you did.

So, are they saying that there are different potential minimap options if HELD, as opposed to PRESSED? It sure would be nice if these updates didn’t include guessing games and puzzles…

Can the developers just TELL us how the controller minimap works after the update instead of being vague about such an important feature?
