lol. they are really struggling internally
I hope for Byzantines and Ethiopians civs!
Ethiopians would also be a good idea. Other ideas of more African civs to add to Age of Empires IV includes the Berbers/Moors and Nubians.
hehehe, I already have my model for Age2 Berbers… although I divide it into 2:
- Kingdom of Andalus (The Kingdom of Spain, mainly from 1200 to 1492),
- Kingdom of Morocco (Consider the Almoravid, Almohad, Marinie and Saadi dynasties).
Those of Morocco would have the Morabide (Warrior Monk), the Zinete (mounted javelins), Marinid Royal Guard, Moroccan Dragon.
Those of Andalus, would have units shared by the Spanish “rider” and the Moroccan zinete, their only unit would be the Nasrid royal guard, infantry with the ability to “chain”, which makes them slow but more lethal.
POSDATA, “ABOUT THE PERSIANS”: I just checked, and indeed, the Islamics did not conquer the Persians all at once, a piece of them followed in the late Middle Ages, the Samanid Empire (819–999), and then the Gasnavidas (~ 1000–1186), then came the Ilkhanate, and the Timurids. They could call the Civ “Persian Sultanate” to group both, in any case those from the year 1000 are Islamic so the name is fine. The mongolic reign of 100 years can be a dinasty, as the Yang dinasty of Chinese, and latter in Imperial: Timurids.
If these divided 2 civs of North Africa were to be one in Age of Empires IV, they might end up being the Moors. Now as for the Persians, like I said, if that civ appears in Age of Empires IV, it would function similarly to the Chinese in that it would represent various Medieval Persian dynasties including Persian Sultanates and thus, would have a Dynasty system (except that it would function differently from that of the Chinese).
But the War Elephant would still no longer be a unique unit if another civ that historically fielded elephants in warfare were to be added and a new unique unit would be introduced for the Delhi Sultanate (that new unique unit for the Delhi Sultanate could end up being the Ghulam just like what it’s AoE2 counterpart, the Hindustanis have). Examples of other civs that would have the War Elephant are the Persians, Chola Dynasty, Majapahit Empire, and Khmer. The Tower Elephant will still be only available to the Delhi Sultanate and a new ranged elephant unit that would be a non-unique unit would be introduced and that is the Elephant Archer and when that unit gets added, the Tower Elephant would perhaps be considered the Delhi Sultanate’s replacement for the Elephant Archer.
Byzantines can still be referred to as Byzantines in the game and by the way, it’s the Castilians we would be getting and not the altogether Spanish. Byzantines aren’t going to be called the Eastern Roman Empire because there might be confusions between the names, Holy Roman Empire and Eastern Roman Empire.
imo, price going down is a sign of whats coming to regain those margains, in this case payed cosmetics, basically confirmed in feedback surveys, while being as missleading as they can be to minimize any backlash
spanish or ancient american civs?
I’m really hoping for the Celts. I think that the lack of civs is the biggest downside of AoE4. Although, there is MUCH more that goes into each civ in 4 over 2 and 1. Still though, the options are pretty lackluster as of now. Can’t wait for an expansion.
There are names like Montezuma and Cortez. I bet Spain and Aztec!
They had published the same thing last year before the new civilizations with the same image, so it’s there by chance.
Castile!!!
