2024 Age of Empires 3: The Complete History purchased DLCs listed as locked

Hi everyone! I recently bought the AoE 3 The complete history bundle from the Microsoft Store (I am currently on the xbox game pass free trial but I purchased the game individually using the discounted sale for members) and was able to download both the definitive edition main game and all of the encompassing DLC civs. This is a new computer (bought 2 days prior to purchasing AoE3), and I have extensively and completely downloaded all necessary windows 11 system updates and security updates, as well as all other optional updates relates to the system and use.

However, when trying to play any of the DLC civs in the skirmish mode, I am unable to do so because it says that the DLC is locked as if I did not have it purchased. But clicking on the DLC within the in-game menu, it says that I already own the DLC and that there is no problem (which obviously isnt the case).

I have extensively browsed the forums for a solution, going through every single comment, from resetting the game, unistalling/reinstalling, powershell, wsreset, downloading via the xbox app, confirming that it says installed within my xbox library, etc. From a system settings perspective, I can see that the game is in my system storage, as well as all of the DLCs underneath.

My AoE game is at the latest version (100.15.59076.0) and I have no issues connecting to microsoft servers or internet, or downloading system updates for both the computer and apps. My xbox and microsoft store account emails are aligned and synced, and nothing seems out of order.

Has anyone experienced this same issue in July 2024, and has there been any proven to work solutions?

Is it because I downloaded the game as the complete edition rather than individual DLCs? I uninstalled everything and downloaded them each individually through their respective store page as well so Im not sure what the issue is.

Possible inquiries: Is it because I downloaded the game and the DLCs in the XboxGames folder which is located outside ProgramFilesx86? I didn’t mess with the download file path(aka kept it as default). In terms of file installation, should the DLCs all be found within the Age of Empires 3 Definitive Edition installation folder, or are they supposed to be separate from the base game installation folder but within the XboxGames default path. Can any devs help?

Unfortunately these issues are common on the Microsoft Store platform, it just doesn’t work very well. My recommendation would be to refund everything and get the game on Steam instead, where you won’t face such issues.
