23+2 Tatar Fast Castle into CA rush. How can I improve myself?

Is there any improvements I can make here?

push the deer for 20 char

My notes:

  • Why play on all visible? Knowing where all the res is means you don’t have to scout, which won’t translate so well to actual games. It also means you waste a lot of time clicking the scout to each patch of geese at the start. Instead, just grab the scout, control group it, and send it to the first patch. Then bring in a goose straight away, and shift queue the vills onto it. That would get rid of the idle vill gap after the houses finish.
  • TC gather point should be on sheep right from the start basically, rather than having the vills spawn idle. TC gather point always needs to be on something, having the vills not doing stuff until you task them wastes quite a bit of time.
  • Scout is totally idle, because you’re on explored, instead of working on finding resources and pushing deer. Because you’re doing less with this, you aren’t forcing yourself to play as fast from the start, and are often just waiting for a new vill to come out.
  • Second boar lure is too late, should send a vill when the first boar is at less than 200 food.
  • Don’t build a house right beside your TC (the first two houses don’t count), that blocks farm space.
  • 5-6 on wood is too many early on, should be 4 for an FC build. Because of this, you end up floating far more wood than you need to.
  • If you’re going FC, don’t do it on Arabia (unless you’ve got a really sharp build like a Red Phosphoru, it’s simply too slow of a strat to work reliably). This also means you usually won’t have to waste gold on loom.
  • Don’t waste stone and vill time on a tower unless you actually need it to be safe, building one with no aggression incoming is a complete waste of resources.
  • Need way more farms, way less wood. This isn’t an FC thing specifically, but 16 on wood with 0 farms is definitely not the right order of things, only time this could be possible would be on the way to Castle in a sharper FC on a closed map where you want heavy plow before farming, and even then it might be pushing it. When you have 60 wood, if you aren’t saving for something (you need 325 wood stockpiled before hitting Feudal in a standard FC), and usually a few hundred before Castle, make a farm.
  • You need a lot more on gold and a lot less on wood for two range CA.
  • Don’t ever ring the town bell, instead, garrison the villagers that are in danger, so you don’t idle your whole eco.
  • Use control groups and the select all TCs button to keep queuing vills without neglecting your army.
  • Playing on all visible also means you know where to run around to, which doesn’t reflect a realistic game scenario most of the time.
  • If the enemy is on pure skirm, go for an anti-skirm unit, either Mangonels or Knights most likely.

Thanks.

It depends, I just like playing some games with all visible.

I do not see much build orders emphasizing specifically on when to touch the deer, and since I am more into boar and sheep, my timings in terms for deer is the worst.

They attacked me first in previous games, so I panicked and I built the tower.

Noted, I was only thinking if it’s possible to harvest all the food without missing out any due to decay.

I just needed to get the ball rolling before they can get to me, so I made the CA first.

Thanks, that did not come to my mind, it was just another panic move.

Will take note of this. Maybe a few knights wouldn’t hurt.

They don’t normally explicitly state it, but you do need to push the deer, they collect faster than sheep, gives the scout something to do, and it’s several hundred free food if that doesn’t require you to waste vill time walking out there, making it much easier to pull off the build.

Just run vills when enemies show up, only build a tower if you absolutely have to.

Try and minimize decay, but try much harder to minimize idle time, you waste a lot more food by not having the vills gathering than you do by having a few animals rot a bit.

If you make more farms sooner, you get to Castle sooner, and can make more vills, so you can afford more res, so you can make more CA sooner. By putting too much on wood, you end up without the eco to really sustain anything, and generally survive just because the AI gets too focused on the CA.

Yes, Knights or Mangonels are definitely the way to go, sticking with pure CA means you can’t take cost effective fights against their skirms, so it’s good to go into a counter unit.
