5 plausible civs for a new DLC expansion centered on Asia

Id like to see one african and 2 indianish civis to balance up the building sets.unless they plan to go beyond 40 civis.

Balancing architecture no longer in their agenda. 5th latin civilization sicilians.

Then they can add one for teutons and one for magyar buildings.

… or they could skip Europe entirely for at least the next two expansion packs.

One of the main reasons I don’t want to see more European civs. It’s visually boring and uninteresting.

The only interesting concept could be Bohemians with War Wagons, but I think Teutons already cover their Monks, Infantry and Gunpowder. The other one are the Vlachs/Moldavians umbrella: This is the only unrepresented ethnic group from Europe. Georgia wasn’t influenced by Europeans so I can’t take them as a European civ.

Vlach are already represented with slavic umbrella so its doubtful they would add them and re do the whole campaign.

Its kinda hard to add another civi with indian buildings without overlapping with an umbrella indian civi.afgan is already tatar so bengals maybe?

Cooperative campaigns, and corpse catapults.

Aoe1 had a cheat which made the projectiles of the catapult in to a cow and villager, devs should add that here too.

Yeah, but I want it as an unique unit, not just as an stetic mod. Some civs used it as biological warfare, and it has a different effect than just throwing big rocks. I think it would be an interesting UU. Besides, we don’t have many siege UU

Here’s my reworked Champa civ draft, since some people say that it lacks an eco bonus and would perform quite badly on land maps. I will gradually rework my other proposed civs if I have time.

Champa (192 - 1471)

Civilization type: Navy

Architecture: Southeast Asian

In-game language: the Champa people spoke Chamic languages, which are a sub-branch of the Austronesian languages, hence related to the language spoken by other Austronesian peoples, such as the Malays

Wonder: Po Klong Garai Temple

Civilization bonuses:

Farms are smaller than the farms of other civs, 2x2 tiles instead of the normal 3x3 tiles. Since Champa ruled over a narrow strip of land on the southeastern coast of the SE Asian peninsula, land wasn’t as available as the other civs, so they had to use their land wisely, and that’s why I think the small farm bonus is quite suitable for them. Their farm only costs 20 Wood, takes 10 seconds to build, and provides only 275 Food in the Imperial Age when all upgrades are researched (as opposed to 550 Food for normal farms).

Champa galleys, unlike the galleys of other civs, provide 5 population slots, but the only unit they can transport is their unique unit the Champa Pirate. This is to reflect the fact that Champa warships, historically speaking, can transport many soldiers, including elephants. Amongst the mural carvings of Angkor Wat, there was one carving that recorded a naval battle between Khmers and Chams, and it showed that the warships they were using could carry many people.

Shipwright available in Castle Age

Team bonus:

Archers +3 attack against ships

Castle Age UT: Sea Marauders, Mong Dong (their unique naval unit) +10% speed and +1 range (250 Food 200 Gold)

Imperial Age UT: Champa Rice, the cost of rice farms for allied players halves. This UT only applies to rice farms and not normal farms, hence it’s very situational, and would only be useful on maps with mangrove shallows (450 Food 300 Wood)

UU1: Champa Pirate, a fast and nimble infantry armed with hooked spear and shield. Its most unique aspect is that it can be transported by galleys. A Champa galley can transport up to 5 Champa Pirates.

Cost: 60 Food 25 Gold

HP: 65 / 70 (elite)

Attack: 9 / 12 melee (elite)

Attack bonuses:

+5 / +6 (elite) vs Civilian Unit (new armor class comprised of Villagers, Trade Carts, and Trade Cogs)

+5 / +6 (elite) vs Monk

Rate of fire: 2.0

Melee armor: 0 / 1 (elite)

Pierce armor: 2 / 3 (elite)

Armor classes: Infantry, Unique Unit

Speed: 1.2

LOS: 5 / 7 (elite)

UU2: Mong Dong, a fast ship that fires hand cannons against enemies and has a bonus attack against infantry, basically can be seen as a hand cannoneer on water. It’s available at the dock in the Castle Age and doesn’t have an elite upgrade, though it benefits from the Castle Age UT.

Cost: Wood 90 Gold 40

HP: 130

Attack: 17 pierce

Attack bonuses:

+10 vs Infantry

+6 vs Ship

+6 vs Fishing Ship

+5 vs Ram

+3 vs Spearman

Rate of fire: 3.45

Frame delay: 15

Accuracy: 65%

Projectile speed: 5.5

LOS: 8

Tech tree:

Archery Range: no Parthian Tactic and no Heavy Cavalry Archer

Stable: no Camels, no Hussar, no Paladin, and no Steppe Lancer, but have access to Battle Elephants and Elite Battle Elephants

Castle: no Hoardings

Siege Workshop: no Siege Ram and no Siege Onager

Dock: no Dry Dock

Blacksmith: no Plate Barding Armor

Monastery: no Heresy

University: no Arrowslits

Finally the devs are deciding to break apart the old Indian civ into multiple new civs, and I’m glad to see that my prediction for Tamils/Dravidians has actually borne out (even the unique units are the same as what I predicted!)

I really wish to see the devs do the same to the civs in East and SE Asia, Chams, Siamese, Nanzhao, Tanguts, and Jurchens are definitely legit civs to add into the game, and I couldn’t wait to see them.

After seeing people rally around the Polish, more Indian civilizations, I hope they can take your ideas specifically Siam.
