It’s partially false advertising now. Original tutorial was probably counted to be part of the game, but was cut and replaced with new tutorial. Original tutorial was made partially compatible with the Retold in some buggy form. Ultimately it was cut and the new tutorial is only left. Thus the mission count was reduced by 2.
So it went from 32 + 4 + 12 + 3 (51) => 32 + 4 + 12 + 1 (49).
Technically there is mythic battle, but that is DLC. (also the original version is in files as well)
Demo scenario from gamescom (remake of PAX scenario) is in the files, but not accessible without doing some file movement.
It is probably set before the Egyptian part, maybe during the Trojan parts because Gargarensis goes directly from Greece to Egypt, right?
Anyway Niordsir should be a hero unit in the game. It is kinda sad that you are supposed to have Norse allies with you since A Long Way From home but they are just represented by generic Jarls and Hersirs.
The game currently does not have a Cavalry (I don’t count Chiron) nor Norse Infantry campaign hero so either would be a nice addition.
It would be cool to have an immortal builder unit.
It says at the start of the level, “As his plans in Egypt unraveled, Gargarensis traveled north and rallied the giant clans to attack the Norse of Alfheim…”
Not sure which point in the Egyptian chapter he’s supposed to have made a quick trip to Scandinavia and back. Maybe while Arkantos was taking that nap.
If we want to count missions in a more technical way then a Good Advice is technically 2 scenarios.
It seems to be rater easy to travel from Egypt/Greece to Scandinavia in the AoM universe.
In real life no ancient Egyptian has ever set food in Scandinavian soil and only 1 Greek explorer reached those lands once.
Guess the channel between the Danube and Rhine already exists in the AoM universe or something.
The timeline of Reginleif’s Rally makes little sense. When Arkantos is heading to Egypt Gargarensis is also heading to Egypt. Then Gargarensis only flees North after Arkantos resurrects Osiris. When did he have the time to go to Sweden and back?
It would make more sense if Reginleif’s Rally happened before the campaign, and Njordsir had been following Gargarensis the whole time.
The question is how does time work in AoM?
Like when we play a mission we spend 10-30 minutes on it but we play something that is supposed to be taking hours, days or even weeks.
A siege is rarely done in just a few days.
But it’s also obviously not the decades it would take to build a town like we do in almost every mission.
So how much time do we spend in Egypt?
A few days? a few weeks? Or is it actually months or even years?
Can’t be years. Kastor is a clear indicator. In the first mission of Fall of the Trident, he’s 14 (stated in the infotext, when you click on him.) And in the first mission of New Atlantis, he’s 24. The game literally states that it’s 10 years after the last mission of FotT. This means Kastor is still 14 when Arkantos returns to Atlantis in the last two missions.
Could be two months or something, but not a year or more. Arkantos goes from Mission 1 to Mission 32 in less than a full year. How much less, no idea.
