A bit of a crazy idea for stone walls

Currently no one puts units on stone walls, because it gives no real advantages, and for opponent it’s just much easier to break the wall. So it’s a unique mechanic for AoE4 that’s kind of wasted.

The crazy idea: What if stone walls were only able to be attacked by Trebuchets and Bombards, and units could claim the wall by being the only one to have units standing on it?

This would make Siege Towers finally useful, and having units on the wall to protect it from being claimed would serve a purpose. There would also be more Stone Walls early in the game, and a bit of a wall climbing action going on until players get access to Trebs.

What do you guys think, would this make the game too static or the contrary?

I think that the way to solve the stone wall problem is:

  1. Give +2 damage, +1 range and +1 in all defense to units on top.
  2. The stone walls can only be attack by trebuchets and bombars, but the stone gate can be attack by the ram.
  3. Having the option to put canons or mangonel stone towers.
  4. Stone walls cost 50% more stone.
  5. Canons do 30% more damage to stone walls.
  6. Having the option to add a fortress in the stone wall or conect the stone walls with the fortress.

The walls already give +2 range and - 25% damage from ranged attacks and - 50% from siege attacks.
