Players - The Mediterranean Architecture is overused.
Devs - So we will add 2 more unique castles that are similar to Mediterranean building.
Not to mention that now 10 civs use East Asian Architecture.

I mean how could you make a gothic castle that wouldn’t look Mediterranean?
The issue is that there are not enough architecture set for that area.
That said the gothic castle looks good but not totally appropriate, looks more Italian than Roman.
Someone speculated that it could be inspired to Genoese colonies in Crimea (but then why?)
It is based on Mangup Castle, a Crimean Gothic fortress that resided in an area that eventually belonged to the Khazars (which is why it was my choice for them before realizing it’s more fitting for the Goths). You can see the same three-arch entryway with a smaller entrance next to it.

Turkish split. Seljuk and Ottoman at this point. Slav split again except into Muscovite and Kyivan Rus.
I see, that’s why the genoese cross I guess. I would have preferred an Ostrogothic and Visigothic castle tbh. I can’t tell a single important event from gothic Crimea tbh apart when it fell to Huns and then byzantines I guess but Goths were rarely mentioned there.
Not many examples of those. That’s why I and later the devs went with Mangup.

I suppose that’s true, but then that would also be the case for Persians (Sassanids/Safavids). Despite both being Persian, both empires have slightly different territories but vastly different cultural influences.
Why can’t Hawaiians be a civ? Pretty sure they were an independent civilisation and not a US state at the time. Also what’s weird about the logic? Both Romans and Italians share similar territories but different cultures due to changes during the time difference.
Not sure how I feel about a Seljuk/Ottoman split since they directly precede/supersede the other, but am very much in favour of a Slav split into Muscovites and Kyivan Rus.
