I had the opportunity to buy and try this new DLC which at first I had my doubts about whether it was going to have a good impact or it was going to be another failure like the V&V DLC was, to which fortunately it did have the good impact I expected, The new DLC seems great to me, from the cinematics to the new civilizations and all the units that appear throughout the campaign, I hope this is the model to follow for the future of AOE II DE, I found the fact to be quite a positive point that the civilizations have regional variations among themselves, something that AOE II never had and that is why all the civilizations felt the same except for the unity of the castle, I hope we can continue to see more civilizations with ancient themes over time, just imagining seeing Romans, Vikings, barbarian tribes or even the ancient Chinese dynasty in future DLC makes my skin crawl, I hope more people can try the new DLC Chronicles: Battle for Greece so they can delight in all the new ideas and mechanics they have added to the game, and I am sure they will be the inspiration for what comes later in the AOE saga
All unit lines are same between Greeks and Achaemenid, there is no regional skins, what variations are you talking about?
well, I think I was referring to the fact that in the campaign there are quite a few unique military units which makes the immersion in each chapter increasingly different and more real, in addition the urban centers and the fortresses of the new civilizations have more unique technologies than the base civilizations of AOE II
They look cool, but they’re so long and rambly. They give you about two sentences of plot but several paragraphs of apologetic bloat about how historical accounts aren’t always reliable. (Admittedly I’ve only played the first three scenarios so maybe this gets better later on.) Also the volume is way louder on them than the rest of the game.
I don’t think this can be what you mean. The idea of seeing Romans, Vikings, barbarians and/or ancient Chinese in a DLC makes you feel disgusted or physically disturbed? Seems unlikely.
Does Battle for Greece have things like tutorials and skirmish mode or is it just the campaign?
Some what minor tutorials (Either you need to play that deep into the DLC).
The DLC expect you to know the rope of AOE2 (basic build order, booming and stuff). Counters are not really a thing to worry about.
They also have skirmish, which you can either choose pure Chronicles or mixed with AOE2.
The new civilisations can be enabled in any lobby, both skirmish and multiplayer, they are just not available in ranked.
You can also use everything from Chronicles in the scenario editor next to all normal AoE2 assets.
