According Beasty, AOE4 DLC Will be massive

There are DLSS and FSR which could help with that.

The last 4k graphics pack was optional, and if there is another one they can also keep it that way

Yes, this could be a good solution, imho.

Oh for sure.

But I meant more in terms of getting more out of the existing ambience. People have been asking for animated animals in buildings, Gaia variants, and so on, and so forth. Weapon animations, weapon visuals, etc. Siege death animations!

All of this is smaller, perhaps less impressive polish. But if it were all tackled at once as some large piece of work, the resulting improvement would be significant (opinion opinion opinion).

Oh yes, I understand now. You are right.

Yes, of course these would be Amazing improvements

I hope they add both new and varient civs.

To me, civs variants are fillers created with low effort.

I would say be prepared for what’s coming.

What do you mean about that?

They don’t update the game for just you. Plenty of folks enjoy Variants, plenty of folks enjoy new base Civs. The more options, the better for everyone.

I really like the variants, it’s something that won’t hit its full stride until all civs have one though. Them being similar to their reference civ is totally intentional.

I don’t think it’s reasonable to say you expect to fight them the same way though. HRE and OOtD both have the civ relic mechanic bonuses, but completely different economy gameplay. Ayyubids are timing based while Abbasid are much more eco based. Jeanne d’Arc maintains french identity, but has less of a focus on economy and no castle influence bonus. China and Zhu’xi are the most different in terms of gameplay and timing, completely different objectives in gameplay even if they both have mostly the same UU.

If calling them filler is meant to be a reference to them not being as substantial as another civ, well yeah I mean that’s the point. But 2 civs per expansion with 4 variants is so much more in terms of content compared to just 3 or even 4 civs. Not to mention the sacrifices in quality you would make to individual civs if they were working on so many at once, civs in AoE 4 have so much more detail than any other title.

Super excited to see what the next DLC brings. English variants, Rus variants, Delhi variants, Mongol variants… I have so many ideas of what each of them could bring, but the one thing I know for certain is that they will offer so much more to gameplay.

Shoot, if you think they feel bad now, imagine how out of place they would feel if they never expanded on the concept and left it with just 4.

Well, if we talk about variants and campaign resources, I don’t think there’s anything to worry about: The last DLC used most of the Campaign units for the variant civs, including Joan from the French campaign, and several from Sultan Ascend Campaign itself for the Ayyubid.

Only the model of the Crusader Knights would remain, and the only thing they could save would be a civ from the “Reign of the Teutonic Order”, but it wouldn’t be a variant, but a new civ.

I would say that if they want to make more variants they will have to be very innovative this time.

And while some were made with less effort (Order of the Dragon) for others like Zhu Xi good designs were created, like the Shaolin monks and even new Landmarks. And not to mention the effort in making the Ayyubid, with 6 new unique units (Sultan Tower, Manjaniq, Atabeg, Dessert Rider, Camel Lancer, Dervish).

In any case, i would prefer either New proper Civs, and only make variants if there are enough unique units or design to make them, not for obligation.

Bigger than anything we have seen before? So even bigger than variant civs? Then we will probably see 4 to 5 new civilizations.

I have nothing to say.

Mate, you probably have more info about It and i’m happy for you.

I bet my two cents that we don’t see graphic improvements. Am i correct, right?

Asking questions when he said he’s got nothing to say seems . . . self-defeating

I imagine it must be 3 new civs at least and variants for all of those civs that are missing one. Possibly a new campaign and new maps as well.

Could the Atakama map be an indication that it would include Spain and the Incas?

There’s nothing he can reveal at this moment. I understand the anxiety, as I am also waiting for news, but let’s wait… The most important thing is that we can expect a big DLC.
