While I do think the Loadingscreen is very vibey, it doesnt really serves its purpose. The information displayed is a bit scarce and the personalized content is way to small to get recognised. I think the banner needs some rework, as it cant really fit vertically (needs to be scaled down a lot to fit). Right now the loading screen is basically flag on flag on flag on flag. I also miss the dark blue/golden drawing with fireflies in forgreound you can see in cutscene trailer etc. I made a rough prototype; excuse the font and the clean frames.
I think you could play vs an animated baground or golden fireflys in the forground. I dont think the flags need to be animated, as they are already rendered very dynamic.
Being honest, I don’t like it:
-
The banner is supposed to appear as you customize it, not be forced to enlarge to fit a rectangle. It’s the only customizable detail you can improve by accumulating enough Sigils and event rewards. The worst thing they could do is remove it, especially from the loading screens.
-
The checklist-style victory options look awful; I prefer the way it was before.
-
The AoE4 map images aren’t particularly impressive either; they’re just a summary. Putting it in the center doesn’t look good.
-
Also I think the flags of the civ you play, dispossed in the loading screen, is the most epic part of the loading creen. Removing that effect would be the worst possible mistake.
The Default AoE4 loading screen is fine, only a map image is missing, and it could easily go somewhere else:
Croissantini did this; I think it’s better. It fills in a blank space.
AoE4 doesn’t allow so much color. If all the avatars were 2D silhouette blue and gold icons instead, and the flags made much smaller so as to not bring so much color to the page, then maybe it would help align with the AoE4 style aesthetic. (Not my preference, just stating fact.) I think the mockup also doesn’t distinguish clear enough the teams, which could help
I really like the banner too, I love customizing it. But the tiny sigils and fine logos get completely lost on the loading Screen. There are some profile pictures that you cant identify at all at 1920Ă—1080. While the customizing part being great, the implemention on the loading screen is not great.
Yeah, it should be like the AoE 3 map loading with the map in the upside of the screen with some descriptions about these map…
