Hi devs if you are working on Age of Empires 5 share this new with public so we can say which way you should go.
I think the announcement of AoE5 will take place in 2027 at an event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the game series.
Why would they do that? Age of Empires 4 is new and very good, the holy grail of RTs.
Wait until Warhammer 40k Dawn of War IV and Total War ![]()
Also, is suspicious that Blizzard posted on StarCraft’s News Page the Blizzcon 2026 announcement.
Maybe a StarCraft Revival? ![]()
It will be more of a fun game than a game of strategy and action-packed action
Crearly you did not try DoW man ![]()
Base building would be back in addition to army improvements and abilities
Dawn of War is coming out and AoE 5 will probably take couple years to be produced.I hope they let us know the timeline of the next game.
Also this true too AoE 4 is best strategy game in the market.
Same (20 characters)
I just hope it’s not a game made out of fear, and that it once again tries to appeal to Age of Empires II players and professionals.
Nothing will make them abandon Age of Empires II; that much is clear at this point.
I really enjoy the enthusiasm fans bring to the conversation, sharing wishes and desires.
But I wholeheartedly believe that letting fans influence creative decisions would be the single worst choice for development. In the past its also led to some of the bigger arguments, as fans tend to disagree with each other far more than they do with the developers.
Conceptually I would enjoy something like this:
so it’s in everyone’s interest here to not have another AoEII frankestein copycat like AoEIV ![]()
Yeah thats true but at the same time I think is better for them to keep investing in AoE IV instead of making a brand new game this early
Actually when they announce they were working on AoE 4 i tell them what kind of game it should be and they made the exact same game.It could be a luck too but most of the new things i said was in the game when it came out.Game turned out perfect.
These are speculations, but let’s go.
I found a good video that talks about this subject (it was posted recently) that discusses exactly this topic:
- Why will a new Age of Empires V come out sooner?
- And what could be the development style to be adopted?
Well, they’re still releasing DLC for almost all the popular franchises:
- Age of Empires II, Age of Mythology, and Age of Empires IV will have several DLCs by 2026.
- Age of Mobile is still releasing updates, so I suppose it also has its audience.
So, i suppose they have the enough money and staff member to work in many proyects at the same time.
Two years ago, If they didn’t release more for Age of Empires IV in 2024, it was because of the “2024 Video Game Crisis”
In any case, I don’t think another game will affect what has already been built, unless they try to supplant another Age of Empires game, something that, as Petersen said, they tried to do with Age of Empires III against Age of Empires II, and it didn’t work; so I don’t think they’ll try again. Each game has its niche:
-
AoE2: From the time of the fall of Rome to the Late Middle Ages (476-1500).
-
AoM: Ancient history in the mythological and legendary period of various civilizations, mythological elements. - AoE3: Colonial Age up to the Napoleonic and Industrial Eras (1492-1900), colonies, revolutions
-
AoE4: Middle Ages and Early Modern Age (800-1650 AD), with Landmarks and greater representation
If they want to create something fresh, they could consider the eras that are currently underrepresented by the franchise, or that are crying out for a remake:
-
1.- Classical Antiquity.- The era of the Greeks, Persians, Babylonians, Hebrews, Egyptians, Romans, etc. Of course, obviously without going through the Stone Age (Please not again). Aesthetically, Zero AD has good models of how it would look… of course, they could do even better.
-
2.- Modern Period WW1 WW2.- Age of Empires with tanks, planes, submarines, and for the Imperial Age, nuclear bombs, LOL!
Yes, I agree… I think it makes sense that they’ll announce it at Summer Game Fest in June 2027 and probably release it in October 2027 for the 30th anniversary of the saga, just like RE9 is being released now for the 30th anniversary of RE…
Well, it’s not exactly new, it’s already 4 years old, almost 5…
Yes, if AoE 5 comes out in 2027, they won’t abandon AoE 4 overnight; unfortunately, they will abandon AoMR and alternate between AoE 2, 4, and 5…
Yes, let them take risks in other historical periods: Antiquity (3000 BC-500 AD), Early Modern (1400-1900), Modern (1900-2000) and even Future (2000-2200) (the Russian, Chinese, American and Masai futuristic campaigns in EE1 and 2 are cinema) in due course…
Yes, I feel like that ship already sailed with AoE Online in 2011, but I understand that now it would be super realistic with UE5 and troops on the walls like Pharaoh Total War…
Yes, it wouldn’t be a bad idea… you have a large European map between 1910 and 1950 in a grand, dynamic historical campaign, and you advance through the ages as the years (turns) go by, and then the skirmish games are RTS as always…
Please give us Rise of Nations 2 with an isometric view option!
Well, many of us migrated from AoE2 to AoE4 long ago.
Those who stayed with the multiplayer in Age of Empires II (aoe2:DE) generally did so for several curious reasons, which I learned after spending a good amount of time on the AoE2 forum:
-
They don’t like “complex civilization”, with more than 2 unique units or techs, even unique mechanics.
-
They prefer that most civilizations be 90% similar, with a shared tech three for everything,
-
They prefer “full Micro” gameplay and no Macro.
In fact, in the last DLCs for Age of Empires II, the devs tried to implement “unique” features for certain civilizations, and some people reacted badly; they want everything to be the SAME, with little innovation.
Anyway, it’s just a matter of taste.
Hopefully…it’ll be 20 years since we had Rise of Legends…but BHG has been living off Dominations since 2015…
Yes, I’m going back to Age of Empires II simply because of the campaigns I didn’t finish. I don’t even play multiplayer anymore, except maybe once every time a bishop dies… otherwise I’d stick with the other Age of Empires games…
Yes thats the reason why i made this post but i dont understand why in AoE4 is hard to make dlc.Can someone explain me?Isnt it same with other games? Thats the only part i cant understand.AoE 4 is such a detailed game, devs really did a good job with this game.
