Code of Conduct
These forums have been created to give the Age of Empires community a centralized outlet for discussing Age of Empires-related topics.
As the guidelines from the Code of Conduct and Xbox Community Standards state, you are required to maintain appropriate forum etiquette for participation. All content moderation policies are applied diligently, objectively, and proportionally. Our platform services respect the fundamental rights of all parties involved, including your freedom of expression.
Here are the rules we expect you to follow when participating on the Forums:
-
Flaming, trolling, insults, name-calling, or personal attacks against members, communities, companies, games, or organizations are prohibited. You’re encouraged to engage in discussion, debate, share your opinion and provide feedback, but disrespectful behavior and any form of inflammatory or insulting language are prohibited.
-
Do not post offensive, derogatory, or discriminatory comments or hate speech. This includes but is not limited to attacks based on someone’s religion, race, nationality, gender identity, orientation, personal beliefs, or any other personal characteristic. ANY form of discrimination will not be tolerated. This includes usernames, signature lines, titles, and avatars.
-
Do not post or engage in discussions involving controversial topics such as religion or politics. The Forum is made up of users from all backgrounds, faiths, beliefs, and corners of the world. Contentious topics should be avoided, if possible, unless directly related to (and discussed within the context of) the game. This also applies to images, memes, and links.
-
Do not try to bypass the profanity filter.
-
NSFW or obscene content in any form is not allowed. Inappropriate content, including but not limited to pornography, overtly and suggestive sexual material, nudity, animal cruelty, racism, sexism, unlawful content, self-harm, gore and images of extreme violence, is not permitted in any form. This includes animation, drawings, and AI generated content, both media and text, real or fake.
-
Harassment, bullying, or targeted intimidation toward any individual or group, whether direct or indirect, is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, threats, wishing harm upon someone else, sexual harassment, attempts to provoke or antagonize others, and coordinated harassment.
-
Posting links that promote paid services is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, websites and Discord servers unless staff has granted prior approval.
-
No sharing, promoting, or discussing pirated content, hacking, and malicious websites/links. We do not condone the piracy of any game or product made by any development studio.
-
Do not post content that could be considered bumping, advertising, spam, or any other form of unauthorized solicitation. Replies to threads older than a year are considered ‘necro’ posts and will be removed.
-
Do not change thread titles. Doing so can lead to a ban.
-
Do not try to obtain or share personal information. This includes any information that could be used to identify you or anyone else, such as your specific location, full name, email, etc.
-
Do not promote cheating, griefing, or exploits. These should be reported to Support at Age of Empires Support. Report it, don’t use it!
-
Moderation actions are not open for public discussion. Forum threads is not the place for moderation disputes. Any attempts to argue or discuss moderation with users or moderators will be removed. If you have concerns about a moderation decision, please reach out to Support: Age of Empires Support.
-
Forum Polls about Age related topics are acceptable, but petitions and surveys are not permitted. Any such posts will be deleted immediately.
-
Do not create posts to specific members of the staff. The moderators and developers are reading the posts and replying accordingly.
-
Do not discuss things unrelated to Age of Empires outside of the Off-Topic forum. Try to hold relevant discussions in their respective channels. Excessive derailing of a topic will result in disciplinary action.
-
Do not impersonate others with your posts, profile, or username. This includes but is not limited to other users, moderators, administrators, developers, or staff.
-
Do not feed the trolls. If someone else is violating the rules, it does not justify you doing the same. Flag their posts and avoid getting baited into breaking the rules yourself.
-
Do not call out other players in threads. If you have an issue, contact support directly at Age of Empires Support.
-
Do not create new accounts (alt accounts) to avoid the consequences of a ban, aka ‘ban dodging’. Doing so will result in a ban without notice.
-
Do not share links, promotional posts, or tournament invitations that include prizing unless you have prior approval from the staff.
-
Do not misuse the flagging system. Reports should only be made for posts that genuinely violate the rules, not simply because of personal disagreements.
Remember…
Breaking the rules may result in a warning, a mute, or a ban, depending on severity. Please note that while you may be warned about your behavior in some circumstances, breaking certain rules can lead to a ban with no warning. Posts or threads that violate the rules listed above may be removed by the moderation team without prior notice. Moderation’s discretion applies.
Our rules apply to all content shared on the Forums, including but not limited to direct messages, usernames, signature lines, titles, avatars, images, memes, comments, and links.
These rules are non-exhaustive and may be updated at any time. It is your responsibility to make sure you are following the rules.
