Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition DLC News

In all honesty, since the two civs the canceled DLC promised were both European IIRC, I’m not super disappointed that it was canceled. I don’t really need two more Euro civs for AoE3. I’m more worried about what it says about the state of the franchise than anything else. I hope it isn’t completely in its death throes yet.

This is a complete insult, I bought all the games and dlcs from 1 to 4, I shouldn’t have, this is capitalism’s insatiable rabies, I should never have bought AOM either, I hope the AOM dlc is also cancelled and we have the right to a refund, I will refund it at the first opportunity. This is the result of the spread of the Aoe2 and Aoe4 parasite, you first usurped the rights to the 1st game and then to the 3rd game, I hope you go bankrupt.

Sad to hear it. I guess Microsoft/World’s Edge will abandon the game completely or at least they won’t add new content anymore. Instead of playing with the community’s feelings, at least you guys should’ve been more honest about this issue. Yeah, people wouldn’t be happy, but at least we wouldn’t be this disappointed either. As much as I like all the Ensemble Age games, it’s not hard to see that AoE2 is the crown jewel with its active community and numbers. If you wanna support AoE2 more than the others, just be honest about it and don’t toy with anyone’s hopes. Your communication team is a joke, btw.

Good job World’s Edge! I thought you guys couldn’t go this low but here we are. I’ve never seen a game company this shameless. I will boycott every product made by this studio and I sincerely hope it crashes and burns someday :innocent:

Hahahaha after this, (which was quite obvious that it would happen and will happen soon for Aom Retold too) Forgotten Empire and World Edge together with the current failed Relic that have already closed in 2016 with Dawn of War 3, you have really made a fool of yourself.

In this way you have lost a community by deceiving it and above all you have betrayed the trust of many players and of the saga itself close to bankruptcy.

Words from a simple person who has never appreciated the work done on this inferior product of the old one created by a real video game company called ENSEMBLE STUDIOS that in 2005 created the ENSEMBLE STUDIOS ONLINE 2 platform considerably superior to all those of today (First ESO for AOM).
See you on Aoe3 Final Edition.

while the news is just sad, imo it should’ve been said over a year ago instead of fruitless baiting with dlc you have only 2 flags to show for
but on the bright side at least no patches means our mods won’t need constant maintance to stay fuctional
even tho again, this could’ve been said well over a year ago when you showed no interest in patching the game

Calm down, the games are still awesome and very fun (maybe not so much 1 but the rest yes). The only game that doesn’t feel complete is AoE 4.

Shameful how this community has been treated.

Horrendous news. In the era when games like Manor Lords ale made literally single-handedly. And still with this whole team you do some low effort stuff like “variant” civs for AoE4 and now this news. I’m double hurt about this message as a Pole and AoE3 as my first RTS game.

What’s more, was the DLC actually in production or was it just an excuse to gain time? Because it’s very difficult to cancel something that at this point should be half finished and they never showed anything, all very strange.

I think this is the moment when we should demand that there be free communication for the developers, that the promised patch with quality of life improvements be delivered and that they stop hiding the game from the public.

Now I believe more in your speculations than in the shit that says ‘WE’

I certainly have buyers’ remorse for AoMR. I don’t think I’ve played it three months. I couldn’t get immersed in it. The gameplay is just not fun, it’s actually downright aggravating. Its existence was always bad news for AoE3 since the start with that dreadful reveal trailer.

This is not the end, it’s the beginning of something new and we are the ones who define if that is a good or bad thing.

For me this game will never die, because I will keep playing and because we have the most loyal community of all AOE. :v:

No apologies. Just Lies, mistreatment, humilliation, betrayal, and making fun of a loyal community.
Its so over!

I’m not surprise, even thought I think this decision speak horrible from you as a company. You told us you showed us TWO flags just to not let us feel bad, but then you tell us you never start working on it? Shame on you!
At least you can release tools to let modders fully explote the potential of the game.

If speaking of money, then AoM Retold DLCs will make no ROI too, take my words!
Just cancel those, too. Is all simple at this point!

Have the decency to refund all money people payed for it, at least!

This was certainly not the news I wanted to see today. I had hoped that we would get a name, screenshots, the beginning of a hype train for Denmark and Poland.

It’s strange, we had statements recently on Twitch about what was in mind for the new civilizations. Everything looked good, like substantive news was coming. And then today, I see this: a cancellation and a sniveling mea culpa.
