We don’t know many details yet, but the superfans on this forum will assuredly keep very close eyes on things and report them here.
As best as I know, presently we know that the AoEDE beta has already started but apparently will be expanded today, August 22, 2017. We know that AoEDE will be released on October 19, 2017.
We know that AoE2DE, and AoE3DE have been confirmed, but neither beta dates nor release dates have been announced.
We know that AoE4 has been confirmed, also with neither beta dates nor release dates announed. We know Relic Games has been hired by Microsoft to develop this title.
Funny thing is the trailer says “Beta BEGINS August 22, 2017”.

I suspect, but do not know, that Forgotten Empires will be tasked with all three Definitive Edition games. I presume they will be looking for work once they finish up with the first one. And as they have already worked on other Age titles, it seems pretty logical to continue with them.
FE said they liked to work on AoE:DE so much that they decided to do DEs of II and III, so it’s logical to say that they will make both.
I know we are a little off topic in this subforum, but I figure it’s huge news and we can have a little spillover at first. We will certainly corral the AoE4 talk into the correct subforum soon enough!
Edit: I just merged the two AoE4 threads in the AoEDE subforum, though. So we are at least containing the spill.
Will this be avalabel on Steam as that is the biggest online digtal distrobution services in the world and all the other AOE’s are on there as far as I can tell

They have not spoken to this question yet. We know that the next title to be released, Age of Empires: Definitive Edition is being released only on the Window’s store and not on Steam.

The Windows 10 splash screen is at the end of the AoE IV announcement trailer, so I would wager it will be a Windows 10 exclusive as well.
I would personally only buy Age II: DE if it did NOT include the Forgotten, etc. The classical civs are my preference, as later ones weren’t really unique enough (generally) to be more than a slightly different cocktail of bonuses. Also, the campaigns from the Forgotten, African Kingdoms, etc were lacking in story, emotion, and memorability.

Nobody will force you to play as a forgotten civ or play the forgotten campaigns, so I don’t see the problem.
I’d rather not see the Forgotten campaigns in there at all. They are not worthy of Ensemble’s legacy (I wouldn’t say they generate a gag reflex, but they make me annoyed whenever I see them, as they are emblematic of the way Microsoft divested Age of Ensemble and traded them out for cheaper-to-hire fans who became Skybox). There were custom campaigns made in Age II’s heyday that were far better than any of Forgotten/Rajas/African Kingdoms’ campaigns.
I don’t understand why people keep trying to avoid WW / post Napoleonic Era timeline on AoE Franchise, AOE Team along with MS is going to bring fully Definitive Editions for AOE II and AOE III, so why keep trying to get a new game at those eras when there are going to be the old good games already?
By the way, the Rise of the Rajas / African Kingdoms campaigns were good enough for me, very original and had that AOE style that was missing on most Forgotten Missions (specially Bari one x.x).
