As long as relic does AOE justice and not try and do a stupid hybrid rts like dawn of war 3, im happy but time will tell
Finally! Been waiting years for this game. They told me it would never happen a d now it’s happening! Hope this isn’t another prank like that one fallout website…
Don’t expect the game coming soon because there are like 2 more games on the list (AOE II DE, AOE III DE)
AOE II DE, AOE III DE coming soon in beta?

The AOE Team hasn’t revealed anything about the game besides it’s announcement, also the AOE DE is coming at october and it would be a big disavantage to reléase a game too soon after another, so I will bet on AOE DE II release date at 2020.
A year ago, I would have been overjoyed at the news of Relic working on another RTS, AoE nontheless …
But they really, really bombed Dawn of War 3. So now I am worried.
Focus on AoE:DE first…then on AoE2 DE and AoE3 DE. AoE4 will probably come out in late 2018 or mid 2019.

yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. From RELIC (the best team with Creative Assembly)…
Which Period? Ancient, medieval or modern?
The header of Microsoft (the lady) said: “Now it is time for the future”
i don’t know she was referring to a game set in the future… There’s Halo wars 1 and 2…
My speculations:
CA is working on Halo wars so anothere game set in the future should be sensless;
Relic is the team behind the famous Company of heroes…so why another game set in the World War?
The best solution is a back to the ancient times or medieval times… Definitive editions are simply remaster, not true sequel or remake.
They are bringing the Definitive Editions of AOE II and AOE III so IMHO I think it is a lot of work to do so no need to make more medieval AOE Games besides FULL REMASTER.
AOE 2 and 3 are perfect… Both definitive editions will be a simply graphic update with a bit improvements…
We need a good rts set in the ancient times imho
What else you need for a fully perfect game? I mean, you just don’t add more civs and stuff, or turn them (atleast AOE II) into 3D… or maybe they will?

By the way, who flagged me? He should notice that the forum post twice sometimes
EDIT: @Fetandrey I trusted you and you failed me
Will the AOE II DEs already place the newly released expansions?

I agree that it won’t be soon but 2020 is far too late. My guess is mid-late 2018.
We don’t know many details yet, but the superfans on this forum will assuredly keep very close eyes on things and report them here.
As best as I know, presently we know that the AoEDE beta has already started but apparently will be expanded today, August 22, 2017. We know that AoEDE will be released on October 19, 2017.
We know that AoE2DE, and AoE3DE have been confirmed, but neither beta dates nor release dates have been announced.
We know that AoE4 has been confirmed, also with neither beta dates nor release dates announed. We know Relic Games has been hired by Microsoft to develop this title.
Yeah I doubt the DE’s will take years each. But will be more than enough time for the Relic crew to work on IV. Remember that those guys have to come up with everything: story, mechanics, units, timeline, balancing, new visuals, etc.
DE is improved graphics and gameplay fixes, so should take a lot less time comparatively.

They have not spoken to this point, but my gut tells me they will.
I suspect, but do not know, that Forgotten Empires will be tasked with all three Definitive Edition games. I presume they will be looking for work once they finish up with the first one. And as they have already worked on other Age titles, it seems pretty logical to continue with them.

what is your question?
Given that this DE includes RoR expansion, I expect AoE2 DE will include all up to RotR expansion, especially given that they are the same people that made those expansions!
