Age of mythology - Error 0xc000001d Fix Guide
■ Issue:
Age of mythology fails to launch and shows the error code 0xc000001d (illegal
instruction). This error usually occurs when the CPU cannot execute a specific instruction set (most
often AVX/AVX2).
■ Diagnosis:
Even though the system had a modern CPU (Intel 13th Gen i5-13400F), CPU-Z did not list
AVX/AVX2 support. This indicated that the CPU does support AVX, but the feature was disabled in
the BIOS.
■ Solution:

  1. Enter BIOS (press DEL during startup). 2. Navigate to Advanced → CPU Features (or similar
menu). 3. Find the option named ‘AVX’ or ‘Instruction Set Extensions’. 4. If it is set to Disabled,
change it to Enabled. 5. Save and exit BIOS (F10). 6. Boot into Windows and check with CPU-Z →
AVX/AVX2 should now be listed. 7. Launch Age of Empires IV again – the game should now run
    without errors.
    ■ Note:
This issue is not caused by Windows version, GPU drivers, or the game license key. It is entirely
related to the AVX setting being disabled in BIOS.
