All villagers need to be buffed

I’m fed up with allies leaving the game too quickly just because they lose a few villagers.
The problem is that there are many cowardly players who only play with cavalry raids , taking advantage of the fact that villagers are weak and slow, and the villager creation time is very slow.

Currently, the game is unplayable and unpleasant because it has become all cavalry raids by troll players who think they’re pro players when they’re just trolls who ruin the normal progress of the game.

There have been several games where allies only lose four villagers and then leave the game. The game is currently an absolutely unpleasant experience.

All villagers need to be upgraded, they are very weak, slow and their creation time is very slow.

It’s also necessary to increase the attack distance of the TCs because currently Kronos’ rush eliminates villagers easily due to the nerfed attack distance of the TCs. TCs no longer defend villagers correctly.

This is not a good reason to buff all villagers. Once I suggested that a voting system be placed for surrendering. but was met with heavy negativity.
So I have no Idea how to fix people leaving just because they don’t want to play while being at a disadvantage.

I just love that playing something you dont like is being “cowardly”.

Play with friends and not solo → Coward
Play and aggresive civ that raids → Coward

Yea…how dare those poseidon players pick a god that has bonus for calv units and use… calv units?! The insanity!

You are shifting blame here. If your allies leaves from the smalles inconveniance the issue isnt the game, its your ally. Imagine a sports game where your teamate leaves becasue you didnt score first and jumping to the conclusion that “yea let remodel the whole sport around that tantrum” That is the vibe you are giving.

Kronos rushed people before retold was around, after retold came and in every single patch that has been and will be. The TC always covers the gold mine from melee units and it never covered it from range units. the change literally did nothing in favor or against that rush.

eh villagers are supposed to be slow and weak though as they are not combat units. Also calvery rushes is a perfectly valid strategy that can be countered magically by actually protecting your bases properly.

Nothing needs to change just because you happened to play with people that don’t properly protect their metaphorical soft underbellies well and chicken out early because of it.

Theoretically yes. However both odin and Poseidon get access to tech that makes raiding very difficult to stop and trades between raiders and defenders too good for the raiders.

Which is why both top win rate charts atm.

Seriously the amount of complaining and whining you do about things you don’t like in this game makes us all wonder why you’re even still playing it? You’re clearly not enjoying it on any level so just go back to Legacy?

You can just counter raids by walling vils in just like they do in AoE2. Don’t forget that if we make every player too weak to do anything strategical, it also applies to you.

What they need to do is Fix ranked with 3 steps:

  1. Map bans: Banning and selecting favorite map just like in AoE2, will let devs include more diverse map pool and improve average player experience. Don’t like Arena? Ban it. Love Arena? Favorite it! There aren’t bad maps inherently, but to offer players diverse map pool you have to include bans. For example Jotunheim is beloved by many, but isn’t included in ranked pool because top 1% players hate it.
  2. Divisions. These are such like bronze, silver, gold, emerald, platinum, diamond and challenge seen in popular competitive games like LoL, AoE4 and OW. Seasonal rewards are also option for placing high.
  3. Automated tournaments. Such as ATs in Guild Wars 2 or Clash in LoL. Several automated tournaments every day or during weekends where players earn points for the big monthly automated tournament. Problem is how do you incentivise it in an RTS with limited cosmetics: Adding profile cosmetics unlockable with points would do it. Similar shops are steam points shop or myspace. Maybe chat features such as emojis or custom taunts are also an option.

AoM needs to move above elo system from year 2000 and competitive scene should be located outside the discord/streamer bubble.

Map bans are an absolute must. It’s crazy that they don’t have them already. Heck, we can’t even actually see what the map pool is.

AoE4-style divisions are nice. Would like to see it. But they don’t actually fix any specific problems, except maybe player retention.

Automated tournaments could be fun.

I’m all for it, but there’s one subtle problem. All competitive players will learn win rates on different maps over the first month and will end up playing mirror matches on the same maps.
