Ancient Friends

Digo lo mismo del 2 como no conocía gran parte de los ejércitos de la edad media se hacía difil reconocerlos

Yes, the same and it can be because of the vibrant graphics of the game and because you are not very knowledgeable about the colonial historical period, nothing happens is all right …

I got to the same conclusions, more or less.

Ideally, they could bring some Antiquity civilisations to AoE II, but in separate game mode. So there would be two games at once, using the same mechanics, maps, etc. but antique civilisations would play versus other antique civs (except in Campaigns I suppose), which would create a parallel set of civs to balance, so at least they could be their own thing. They could also have some mechanics of their own.

And if they release a lot of these (why not 13 to start?), they could brand it as a new game, more or less, and justify a slightly higher price (like 20 euros).

Being even more optimistic, they could simply merge the Romae ad Bellum mode (and devs!) within the Forgotten Empires team, as they did in 2013 with Forgotten. They seem to have excellent ideas, such as the two unique techs (in Castle and Imperial, so four total) for each civ, allowing to go for a lot of different strategies, and making the game even more replayable.

The whole game of AoE1DE is being ported to the AoE2DE Engine?
There is an ancient DLC for AoE2DE with all AoE1DE content?
Both?

The easiest thing for the devs to do would just add all the 1DE units and Art into 2DE rather than rebuild the engine of the old game probably. And they will probably give the DLC for free to anyone with AoE1

But you have to think about the AoE1 players, they loved the game as it is that right now, without gates or castles
Why would you play AoE2 with a AoE1 skins?
The only thing to me that an AoE1 player can have from AoE2 its units formations

Are you gatekeeping gates?

I play AoE1 and I want to have gates in game. Leaving caps or deleting piece of walls is just stupid and waste of resources.

And exchange of resources in the market, it could also be that the population of the campaigns increases to 200 (500 would be a lot)…

I agree with the castles but I think gates are fine.
Gates are a missing feature.
Castles are a different game design. A core element to make the game feel medieval.

I agree with this.
Don’t add AoE2 specific things.
Gates are an element of all AoE games other then 1.
Castles with unique units and unique technologies are only an AoE2 feature.

I think it is fair to add features that are common in all AoE games but not features that are unique to AoE2 (+AoE4 in some cases).
If even AoM, AoE3 and AoEO kept a feature it won’t be out of place in AoE1 either.
That includes resource exchange in markets but doesn’t include land trade.

AoE2DE only increased the population in the old campaigns from 75 to 150.

A increase to at last 100 in AoE1DE would be reasonable.
Considering how much they already changed about the missions I’m surprised they never changed the population limit.

50 is just a pain.

That’s more an early level thing, they end up with 200. It’s about building up the storyline to the player getting more powerful at the end.

Pretty sure UUs and UTs are in basically every game except AoE1, although I could be wrong.

Unique units are different in all other AoE games.
Only one AoE2 they are an additional unit build in an additional building.
In every other AoE game they mostly replace generic units.

Also AoE3 doesn’t really have unique technologies. The home city replaces them.

That’s also why I said “Castles with unique units and unique technologies” and not just unique units and unique technologies.

Giving AoE1 civilisations a Castle like building or even adding the feature to the Academy would be a very uniquely AoE2 game design.

Yeah, I kind of read that as not wanting UUs. I don’t think they need castles, but I think they do need UUs and UTs.

I would love UU, though I would understand if they didn’t go this way considering most civ already have their most logical UU represented by unit bonus. UT, on the other hand, are a must in my opinion.
Also possibly team bonus.

Of course,50 is too low…you had 20 vils and 30 soldiers and not more…if you play the more newer entries how I do,1 DE is not funny,it feels too archaic and limited…
