Animals than can be added to AoE2

Bison too. And Elk. The deer in the game are so undersized as it is. While the wild boars and wolves are oversized.

Depends on the species.

If these are Red Deer, then yeah, very undersized. If it’s Roe Deer, Chital, Sika, Fallow Deer etc, then it’s fine.

If Meese are added, they should be aggressive huntables

Edit: maybe they could instead work like predators except they give food, moose are famous for being aggressive after all.

The crocodile is undersized. Also, komodo dragon is bigger than it should. Why not adding caymans? Alligators would also be great.

And the African elephant! Giraffe? Bison?

Hippos, Yaks

. I added the African Elephant and larger crocodiles from AOE1DE by mods.

IMO, all they would have to do for alligators or caimans is give the existing crocodile unit a black reskin. If you look at American alligators or black caimains, they’re predominantly black in color (not green as cartoons portray).

I hope badly we get this

I tend to expect more from AAA videogames. It’s not that they can’t create new sprites. For a free mod, I understand the limitations, but when it comes to a company as massive as Microsoft, I expect more. Personally, I would gladly purchase a Gaia DLC just for the fresh content, even if that might be controversial among many customers. Ultimately, I dislike the idea of mediocrity in AAA studios, especially when I see the passion poured into indie titles like Easy Red 2 by developers working with barely a tiny fraction of the resources available to big companies.

I hate to break it to you but you’re probably very much in the minority on this one. I like the gaia flavor additions, but i’d much rather they slowly add them in with DLCs and occasionally with updates as they are doing, so that I get them alongside more significant content when i’m paying for it.

I understand your point, and I agree it would be better to have significant content tied to the paid expansion rather than just paying for lesser assets. The addition of elite unit skins, dedicated castle sprites, and monk skins was a great example of new content being added without extra cost. I’d love to see more of that in the future - new Wonder designs for Return of Rome, for instance, would be amazing, especially since AOE1 is lacking in that area.

My desire for paid content stems from the fact that the modern gaming market rarely offers substantial free assets. I trust that developers will prioritize profit over giving away valuable content for free. It’s a shame, but given AOE1’s lack of updates over 30 years and Return of Rome’s current content shortage, it’s a realistic view.

The devs added a unique castle model for every civ that didn’t have one, elite UU skins, regional monks and regional monasteries for free. While at the same time delivering one of the worst, rushed DLCs they have ever done.

I’ll take the free stuff thankyou. As at least that comes out when it’s finished.

I’d rather not pay for cosmetic DLCs. I bought 3DE’s ones because I hoped it would help the game stay afloat, which obviously they didn’t.

I’d also like to see a more distinct model for the Polar Bear instead of the recoloured Brown Bear we currently have. They already made a polar bear model for AoE3DE and AoMR. And there’s an alligator model in AoE3DE, too.

Haast eagle : a flying animal useful in a potential Oceanian DLC.

Ocelots could be a fox-type animal.

Glad to see that the non-Elite War Dogs are without armour.

If I’m not mistaken, Javelinas will finally get a unique skin. And there’ll be Tapirs.

Where are these from? Can the devs give us a Malayan Tapir black and white alternate model for SE Asia maps since they are ddding tapirs finally.

For the dogs, could they add a few more models like for horses and cows too?

See ā€œAll TLC photos in one placeā€, starting with post 123.

We need a few more variations of the dogs. Hunting dogs and dogs for sheep capturing not just these mastiff dogs. The dogs could be scouts as well with long range of sight. A few looking like slimmer hounds and maybe one which was smaller and coloured differently.
