Because seriously, militia line is slow
I think main issue is value of food During early to mid game is high that make Militia-line quite expensive for its worth.
Champion become very strong in late game due to value of food dropped down a lot as food eco is built, which make value of unit per resource jump up.
Maybe make Magyar Hussar treatment on Militia (low food, high gold but total cost about the same), then supply comvert cost back to what it is. This would make units more likely to use in mid game.
If not, then maybe adjust age-up or upgrade in some way to have food less impact to have more food to spare for infantry, like:
- more food in age-up to have to build more villager and gather more food.
- use less food on some upgrade or change to wood / gold.

Actually, drushing can be quite scary without walls, and champions are pretty much useless without an infantry civ (unless you’re dealing with trash units). Even a flush can sometimes be successful (especially if you train 5 MAA as Goths).
