Hey, bored replaying the same coop missions? Are they too easy? Want some more variety and challenge? I might have a mod for you.
Created a mod similar to sc2 coop missions for aoe2 de.
With it, you can play certain campaign coop missions with various mutators, additional civ bonuses, and trainable heroes.
About the mod:
Currently, it has 31 mutators, 19 scenarios, and 6 sets of unique bonuses/heroes for civs.
Examples of mutators:
- enemy dead units spawn Petards
- your and your coop partners civ and military count can not be different by more than 5 units, otherwise, all units of that type are killed
- enemies periodically get a hero which makes other units around him extremely resistant to damage
Civ with additional bonuses: Celts, Franks, Saracens, Mongols, Teutons. All other civs get the same generic additional bonuses.
Examples of civ bonuses:
- Mangonel line no longer damages friendly units after chemistry (Celts)
- Destroying Town Centers, Castles or Wonders heals the army fully (Franks)
- Universities heal units (Saracens)
- Enemies lose 10% hp after 100 kills. (Mongols)
- Destroyed buildings spawn Teutonic Knights (Teutons)
- Get additional random unique unit (Generic)
Trainable heroes at the castle in castle age. Level up when fighting enemy military units. Level-ups increase stats and auras (if the hero has them).
Examples of heroes:
- William Wallace. Gets a trample attack that increases its range once he levels up a few times. (Celts)
- Joan of Ark. Gets an aura that increases nearby cav and inf atk. (Franks)
No walls. Castles and towers are much weaker. Will have to rely more on your armies for defense.

How to play:
- Install the mod: Mods Single - Age of Empires - World's Edge Studio
- Create a custom multiplayer game
- Pick one of the maps (name ends with coop_missions.aoe2scenario)
- Invite your friend and pick a difficulty. Easiest through Hard is 1 mutator and its matching campaign ai difficulty, Hardest: hard ai and 2 mutators, Extreme: hard ai and 3 mutators.
- While in the game player 1 needs to select an outpost and pick the desired mutators. If none are picked after a certain amount of time random mutators will be chosen.

Wanted to add progression as well but currently it is not possible in a multiplayer scenario, but future aoe2 updates might change that.
