Aoe 2 DE Wishlist 26-27

Hi all, this is my personal list of things I wish devs add to the game, feel free to disagree, agree and add your own.

  1. Pasture (Khitan) for nomadic civs as: Huns, Mongols, Tatars, Cumans. Balance of it, as of now correct me if wrong but they produce more than normal farms.
  2. Mule cart (Georgian/Armenian) for nomadic and raider civs as: Vikings, Huns, Mongols, Tatars, Cumans.
  3. Nomadic culture buildings to be cheaper but less resistant as a passive as ex.
-35% less wood/stone buildings, +40% build time -50% hp less feudal age up,
Instead of No houses (huns), houses destroyed (mongols) for again nomadic cultures.
  4. Goths, to use Mediterranean Architecture, Huns Central Asian or to have a new Dark Age Architecture for civs of early middle ages.
    Huns to have Steppe Lancers.
  5. Customize further matches, by selection the amount of resources gold/stone have. So deposits last longer or shorter.
  6. Byzantines to have Legionaries shared with Romans, and Varangians for the upcoming dlc.
  7. Turks to have savar upgrade too, same name or called Sipahi.
  8. Italians to speak italian instead of old aoe latin, Byzantines to use Greek or latin as Romans.
  9. Mod support for changing units graphics per civ, ex. Paladin for Franks, without changing the graphic of other civs.
  10. Able to trade on our own, with 2 markets of our own.
  11. Elite upgrade models for Chronicle units.

Other Ideas that are more loose.

  1. Ireland/Scotland civilizations with new architecture set for them and Celts.
  2. Eastern Mediterranean Architecture Set: Byzantine, Georgian, Armenian, Bulgarian.
As currently Mediterranean shares the most civilization pool.
  3. Teutons and Franks to share the +1/+2 armor passive for cavalry/infantry from the Teutons, instead of the Franks having +20% hp for cavalry.*
As in imperial age it becomes +10% as franks lack a tech that gives 10% hp, plus the extra hp is meaningless anyways as other civs have better Paladins, Teutons, Lithuanians, Persians.*
  4. Balance Samurai unique bonus damage, from the 31+ civilizations only like 2-3 unique units are able to resist or beat Samurais in 1v1, which doesn’t make sense. Plus they have a charged attack damage.
  5. Balance Savaar - Paladin, as currently Savar is better, faster attack, better armor, cheaper.
  6. Balance Berserker Hp, as currently has less hp than a champion, but barely has the same due the viking +20% hp passive. They could be renamed to Chieftains instead, and have the berserker role to new dlc dane axe, and instead be a unit as the Centurion buffing other infantry units.
  7. 2nd Unique unit for old civs, ex. A unique Paladin for Franks an alternate upgrade of cavalier as savaar but for Franks.
  8. Ability to create and store farm animals to generate food. Have merchants and monks store them in markets/town centers or monasteries, respectively to generate passive gold.
  9. New game mode that each civ has heroes, as the 3 kingdoms ones, that give bonuses and passives or can be even level up as warcraft like games.
  10. New models for Generals and historical characters, SPECIALLY for Victors and Vanquished dlc that didnt brought any new.
  11. New towers that have balistas or catapults.

Some are easily doable, others are harder or need balance. comment down bellow your wish list.

Not Tatars. Central Asia actually had thriving agriculture, especially in oasis regions like Transoxiana.

The Mule Cart represents the traditional way of life in the Caucasus, rather than that of the steppe or other parts of the world. If the Mule Cart were changed to represent nomadic life or something else, then Armenians and Georgians should no longer be able to have access to it.

More precisely, even Armenians shouldn’t really have access to the Mule Cart, given the history of Cilician Armenians. What should really be something shared by both Armenians and Georgians are the Warrior Priest, along with the Fortified Church.

Nah. This would make early-game rushes absolutely terrible.

Since the game’s depiction of the Goths focuses on the Migration Period instead, their architecture should be Northern or Central European.

The Huns represent steppe nomads who came from Asia but became active deep in Europe. Central Asian architecture wouldn’t be accurate either. The only truly accurate option would be to give them a Steppe architecture style, at least one that they share with the Cumans.

Agree.

On the one hand, Savar is neither Turkish in name nor in visual. On the other hand, the Sipahi are already their CAs.

If the goal is to add more Ottoman flavor, perhaps there could be turning the Trebuchet into the Great Bombard after Artillery is researched, a siege cannon that also has packed/unpacked states, but can still move very slowly while unpacked. Or, Hand Cannoneers could be upgraded into Abus Gunners. Or, there could be the Deli, a trash cavalry unit with shadow upgrades, to clearly replace the Hussar line and the free-upgrade bonus.

That said, the civ already feels quite Ottoman-inspired as it is, even though it’s supposed to represent other Turkic peoples in West Asia, especially the Seljuks.

For Knights, +20% HP is basically just +20 HP. So advancing to Imperial increases the actual effecient of the bonus from +0% to +60% (12 more HP for Paladins, which is equivalent to another 60% of the Bloodlines effect), rather than reducing it from +20% to +10%.

The Franks’ Paladins are still practical overall. They may not be the strongest depending on the situation, but they certainly shouldn’t be considered bad.

Here’s a bold idea: globally split the Paladin upgrade into two parts:

  • Introduce “Jousting” as the next upgrade after Bloodlines, giving the Knight line +20 HP exclusively, while reducing the Paladin’s base HP to 140. The Paladin upgrade would be cheaper, but once you factor in the cost of Jousting, the total remains unchanged.
→ Every civ with access to Paladins could start progressing from Knights to stronger units earlier. For opponents facing Paladins, this would also give them more time to react and prepare before the Paladins are fully upgraded.
→ Though the Franks Paladin would have fully upgraded HP cap at 188, that should still be enough, given their strong farming.

  • Change the Franks’ bonus to “Bloodlines-line upgrades are free.” [Not necessary]
→ They’d get another +20 HP right when hitting Imperial, giving them a very useful power spike.
