AOE 3 vs AOM units

with AOM coming out and being in the same engine , even having a lot of the same icons for tags and stuff and also roughly similar counter logic (using multipliers)

I thought it would be fun (and possibly a kind of mod in the future porting units ) to see how these mythical armies would fare to early modern firepower

  1. Damage types

The 2 games have roughly the same damage types (melee - hack ) (range - pierce) (siege- crush) so we ca compare from that

Sadly for AOE 3 it seems the ancients were immune to crush damage with all non boats and buildings having 99% crush resist so our fancy technology like grenades, abus and cannons will do them no damage (maybe this is how to beat otto, swedes should summon the norse to fight)

  1. Tags
    AOM and AOE 3 share a lot of similar tags and how its used the in counter systems, which has some funny outcomes

1st is that AOE 3 archer tags are not used in the counter system and are also not tagged as infantry, meaning that no units in AOE 3 will do bonus damage against them.

2nd there is no cavalry/heavy cavalry or infantry/heavy infantry distinction in AOM, so sadly units such as dragoons, cav archers , skirms will do no bonus

3rd a bonus for AOE 3 is that there is no such thing as shock infantry in AOM (atleast not yet if they ever do aztec i guess its coming) so coyote, chimmu etc have no counters

  1. Scaling
    AOE 3 units scale a lot more then AOM, where the line upgrade only gives you 10/15/20% stats and not the 20/30/50% stats that AOE 3 gives, meaning no humans can stop the march of the Gendarme or the Redcoats.

  2. Myth units
    AOM however have one card left to play, their myth units, where pure raw stats and armour makes them powerful against the pitiful humans where even the cyclops , an early game unit has 650 HP and 50% range and melee armour, stats comparable to an imperial hussar

and of course the titan, which now has 28k HP as base and has 90% armour, akin to an aoe 3 cheat unit. Once that hits the field it would truly be the wrath of the gods sweeping away modern man.

and unlike AOM heroes which all have bonus against myth units, our heroes have none.

Am I missing anything and should this be a scenario in the future?

Mythic units would wipe out AoE 3 units…in AoM you have units with over 1000 HP, AoE 3 units range from 75 HP to 2000 HP in the case of the Explorer…not to mention the Titan which would wipe out entire colonies in AoE 3…you could only beat it with George Crushington…

What about artillery? Would gatling spam be effective?

Also: how does eco/unitcost compare? Maybe you can outeco age of mythology civs and raid their vills?

I like how in AoM each unit got 3 resist, instead of 1 resist for each unit in Aoe3

Yes, it could be… but they would still be very hard… to take down a colossus you would need several cannons or a couple of gatlings… for the titan you would need like 100 falconets…

Yes, you could raid AoM villages with several infantry units, since you would have batch creation plus what you receive from the homecity…In the 3rd age it is more difficult, because the spam of mythical units comes…

unlikely since everything but buildings have 99% crush/siege resists

if it was an actual game, u probably win by cav raid opri style since their vils are squisher
