Upon launching Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, a warning message appears stating that a running process may be interfering with the correct operation of the game. The message references possible anti-virus software, malware, overlays, or other active processes. However, this issue occurs on two clean, fully updated installations of Windows 10 Pro and Windows 11 Pro, with no third-party antivirus installed, no overlays, and only Nvidia drivers and the Xbox App present.

Additionally, the main menu of the game displays the message:
“External manipulation detected. Please restart the application.” (in Spanish: “Se detectó una manipulación externa. Favor de reiniciar la aplicación.”)

The error persists across both operating systems and appears immediately upon launch, regardless of system configuration or background processes.

The error message appears before entering the main menu, and a red message displays at the bottom right corner
