AOM editor bug

So 194 days have passed since the game was released and this awful ugly and anoying bug still hasn’t been fixed ?
What about camera elevation,you locked camera elevation ? W H Y ?

  1. you don’t explain the bug
  2. camera elevation isn’t locked if you enable free camera in “View” → tick “free camera”

So, when you choose Chinese units/buildings and try to select a temple, for example, you’ll get a Greek temple instead. The same applies to everything you see in the f picture. It’s impossible to get a Chinese temple. I want to create a Chinese village or small town, but that’s not possible.I tried to restart game and everythign but nothing. It also happens in the editor that some objects cannot be deleted or moved at all. About camera elevation, I was referring to photo mode. The camera is locket at 1-2m above ground, you can not go lower…AI players still don’t focus on settlements and capturing them…

… ok. The culture filter is, well, a filter. You can choose object from various culture there and also the shared.
But if you want it to change appearance, then you have to change the civilization of the player (here player1) in top left → Scenario → Player data then change to the civ you want (chinese in your case)

About photo mod I was able to zoom on the foot on my unit, make sure to use it properly, there are controls on the lower part

Finally, iirc, ennemies not taking settlement is a issue with the placement, it means you placed it wrong. The settlement should be aligned to the grid by clicking the object then go to Objects → align selected to grid

Last word : please don’t call things you don’t understand bugs. Ask others before, the community is very helpful

AOM retold YOUTUBE LINK !!!

-If I want to create Chinese buildings/units/doodads I choose “Chinese” in the filters. If I want Egyptian units and buildings, I do the same, etc. VERY F*** SIMPLE ! “just go to option scenario…” bla bla bla NO I WILL NOT DO THAT !

-AI capturing free settlements old version vs new version. The lack of interest in fixing this small 190 OLD days problem, which means a lot for the AI player.

-Photo mode is changed, you can not go under texture or lower to capture beautiful screenshoots (you have no idea what i am talkign about).

-Achievement bugs

-No chance to use 1920 1080 resolution I TRIED EVERYTHING !

-The background images added in the photo editor should rotate in certain cases, for example, when placing a sunset time and the sunset image, the light coming towards the map does not match the background image at all.Very very simple to FIX/change this “problem”.

-No footprints,no corpses,no gate opening sound,no AI chat msg sound,no selection sound for Settlement

-When you activate photo mode, this Zzz (idle villagers) effect should disappear !!!

-There is no water for the lake, water with no waves, a calm water surface.

“Game type” (deatmatch, standrad lightning) AND “Starting Resources”,my brorther has started playing Retold version and he asked me what is this can you explain me,i said its a b…s…same s…but with 2 options .Ok but what is this “Difficulty”, nothing what ever you try it would be the same just play…So many little things that new players HATE.Most players prefer simplicity.

-all kind of small problems in Editor like pianting tools, tiggers, effects…

-try to capture Healing spring with Chinese ?!

They don’t attack the bear (auto), and the bear doesn’t attack them.Do you understand that all these small things I have listed (and there are more) make the game interesting?

Timer for zZz effect should be 3 seconds when the peasant is in the idle position !!!

ETC

Listen, my friend, the studios working on this game should pay 50 beta testers and say, listen guys you have 10 days, play the game 24/7 and look for bugs…

  • … it doesn’t work like that, nor did work like that in EE. For civ-exclusive building, sure, but temple for exemple is shared between civs so you need to play as chinese to have a chinese temple. It’s how it’s coded, not a bug.

  • in custom ? In skirmish ? Had no issue in the latter - and the fact there is no massive report on this might point that there is no real issue

  • idk, I don’t use this mode much, I’m just trying to help

  • tracked and fixed when patch comes out ?

  • did you file a bug report with how to reproduce it ?

  • as you said, it’s “change” - it’s not to your liking, right, but so it’s not a bug and has nothing to do here

  • same, it’s your preference → not bug

  • same

  • same

  • Each gamemode is different and is customisable with options, like any RTS I ever played. The standard rules are adapted to new players and the informations are detailled enough for any people to understand.

  • no precises things → no bug report

  • know issue, will be fixed next patch - it’s for all civ btw

  • yes, it’s how predators behave in retold, they don’t attack units anymore. It’s just different gamedesign

  • your opionion → not a bug report

I tried to help you by giving solutions to thing that aren’t even bugs, you answered in a very rude way. Maybe you want to show how a jerk you are online - that’s you choice, but not really one you can be proud of.

I will not answer further. Have a good day.

Just to further explain what you’re experiencing with the building skins:

The object filter you’re using to show Chinese buildings is filtering to buildings that the Chinese can build, such as their unique buildings like Machine Workshop but also their generic shared buildings like Temple. That Temple is the same building you would get if you filtered for Greek, Egyptian, etc. The skin that shows up is determined by the civ of the player you’re giving the building to. The only way to build a Chinese village would be to use a Chinese civ. You can change the civ of the Nature player in the Editor.

I know exactly what you’re talking about. But if you ask me, this makes absolutely no sense. And once you realize that this is a design flaw in the editor, you’ll be surprised :D. Here’s an example from an old game where, if you choose the Elf civilization, you get all the units and buildings of Elf culture, there’s no need to go into additional options and scenarios to change AGAIN the culture/civilization, because that’s RIDICULOUS

. Regards, my friend.

It’s not a design flaw. It makes things much easier in other ways. There’s no need for the Greeks to have a Chinese Temple. If they did, which Major God statue would it have? The only way to do it would be to have a seperate building for the 16 different civs. That would be a lot harder and less convenient than taking 5 seconds to change your civ.

It works the same way in other Age games, where your architecture set is based on your civ or a separate architecture setting - the same player can’t have two of the same building from two different architecture sets.

The difference with WarCraft is that all the civs have unique buildings. It already works that way in AOM for unique buildings.

Maybe they could implement a way to change a skin with triggers, which could have some use, but would be more difficult than changing your civ. In this case, it seems like you really just need to make the Nature player Chinese or create a new Chinese player for the village, which is what they do in the official scenarios.
