Why is the AOM EE discount not being applied to the standard version of the game? But does it only apply to the premium version?
Because the “Standard” version of the game is pointless. You are not supposed to buy it. It just exists so people don’t complaint that AoMR is more then twice as expensive then AoE1/2/3DE.
The Premium Edition offers so many different advantages over the Standard version that he Standard one is a really bad deal, that’s on purpose.
Adding the discount only to the Premium version is just icing on the cake.

Exactly this. The Standard Edition is simply the main game, with the Premium Edition you pay for the upcoming expansions within that price as well (according to the site that is a 14.99$ value for each expansion) not buying the Premium Edition especially if you know you’ll enjoy the game in the first place is the worse deal here especially with the loyalty discount.
Not taking the loyalty discount into account I still think the Premium Edition is a great deal but with the loyalty discount it is simply too good to pass up in my opinion.
