nicely put together!

first civ i personally like basically every god portrait (even tho i think the Mictlantecuhtli could have less purple and blue and instead flames which would fit the GP better and since Xolotl (and others) already have much purple going on. but i do like all character models and poses!

regarding the archaic age god powers:

  • Tezcatlipoca’s sounds super creative and interesting
  • Huitzilopochtli’s sounds cool and also creative
  • Quetzalcoatl’s sounds the most uncreative and boring out of these three in my opinion. :frowning:

regarding the major god techs i think Huitzli’s is straight forward good but nothing crazy, Tezcat’s is also straight forward but more interesting, Quetzal’s is again the least interesting and impactful…

Regarding the minor gods:

Classical Age:

  • Patecatl sounds solid, the rabbits with their badass kick really looked fun and nice, GP sounds useful and tech Ocpalti Infusions sounds REALLY GOOD. - still very very close third place for me of the three classical ones.
  • Hueuecoyotl sounds also solid maybe slightly more situational. the little fella Chaneque - like the rabbits - convinced me (was sceptical about these two before) i like the Chaneque even more than the rabbit really creative unit. Teponaztli Drums sounds really useful and like a must grab. GP looks nicely animated (like MANY things in this DLC) also useful and not op but the aoe could be slightly bigger and last slightly longer. second place for me out of the classical gods.
  • Malinalxochitl - yeah guessed it right (especially if you followed my AI suggestion thread) i really like her design a lot (like basically every portrait which is special for me), her GP is straight forward and you can even controle the units! i like the egg spawn idea. purple here fits really well too. the snake Maquizcoatl looked a bit “boring” to me before but now i like the unit more two different dmg types and a debuff after death. really usefull. some poison (similar to Anubis tech) and especially slow seem basic but really usefull. straight forward. for me the first place of the classical gods.

Heroic Age: (oh boy)

  • in short: i really like all three choices :smiley: i like all myth units and all GPs - even tho Coyolxauhqui’s and Coatlicue seem to be more easy to use and slightly more impacftul. - Earth monster suprised me that it come up multiple times no wonder its animation is realtive short (which i first thought was a bit sad) but DAMN :smiley: so cool! tech wise i think Coatlicue is the “best” i would say. the other two are really good choices too tho! (especially the Coyolcauhqui’s Stone tech with reduced cost for upgrades at temple and great temple. really like the aesthetic/hole desgin for the Obisidan Butterfly, the special of the Armadillo and the very great animated movement of the Tzitzimitl!)

Mythic Age:

  • Tlaloc. Really cool potrait (and no purple! :smiley: ) and some pretty damn solid and useful techs but… Tonacatepetl comes a bit late in my opinion. Burnt Water and Four Jars on the other hand sound pretty good and like must grab. no upgrade for the myth unit (which unfortunately for me looks the least interesting of the three mythic age myth units even it has a pretty cool grab). GP is straight forward, useful and cool. still thrid place for me unfortuantely.
  • Mictlantecuhtli - cool. would change the blue fire to red fire tho to fit the vulcano (also some burnt tips of of feathers of the wings from the owls would be cool. (and the owl flying ofc even its good animated walk its odd to see an apex predator from the skies walk) Don’t need to talk much about the GP its dope and REALLY strong it seems - the GP alone made it nearly first place of the mythic age gods. tech wise it also has some pretty good if not really good ones. especially Precious Bones but also Mictecah sound like a must grab and pretty good.
  • Xolotl. for me the first place of the mythic age gods. really badass look and pose in the portrait. (one of my favs) GP sounds creative and cool but i would say it sounds the “weakest” of the three GPs but still cool. Soul Guide look cool as is my favourite out of the three myth units so far (owl would be my fav with some adjustments) even the unit reminds me a bit of Nasus (and i have a Nasus trauma from back in the days :D) i really like the aesthetic and its special (and its unit) looked pretty cool and REALLY strong. tech wise i like the myth unit upgrade, the Evening Star tech sounds like a better Argive Patronage and like a must grab together with the Twisted Limbs tech. Stoneskin tech is REALLY cool (and i love that it changed the look of one of my most favourite units the Quinametzin which is such a cool unique siege unit!) but i personally think this should be an upgrade for the Great Temple for all major gods since its a “fort” unit. - opinions?

EDIT: i have to change my opinion on the classical age gods Patecatl seems really like the best option with the most beneficial techs and rabbits are surprisingly cool and underrated. Hueuecoyotl needs something and Malinalxochitl is imo still the coolest but the techs and myth unit upgrade could (maybe?) need some slight buffs?

Is this real? If so, I hope it silences many of the naysayers who are complaining about unauthentic myth units and lack of genuine Nahual mythology here….I like the vibe too. It 100% feels like a civ designed for killing and all expense. Very unique feel for sure

I’m really looking forward to trying them out. Overall everything looks really good to me so far. Better than I had expected. Good to see that Demeter was an odd one out as far as quality goes. The only minor not pick I have is I wanted them to have an animal trade unit like all the other civs rather than some dude carrying a basket. I can’t wait to have an army of bunnies running around eating all the berries. I also want to try out those little turret guys. So far it seems most people haven’t given them a good chance to see how they perform.

I’m very pleasently surprised and looking forward to playing the DLC.

Major God
I like Quetzalcoatl god specific bonuses the most but his special tech being my least favorite.
I like Huitzilopochtli overall god path options the most.

Classical Age
I like Patecatl for the better economy and having both villagers and all human Soldiers having more health and some health regeneration.

Heroic Age
I like Coatlicue for all human soldiers doing more damage of all types and getting some crush damage for dealing with buildings as well as buildings that regenerate and can be repaired for free.

Mythical Age
I like Mictlantecuhtli having multiple techs making different units stronger.

I like most of what I’m seeing :nerd_face:

  • I’m meh about Agave Bloom. Fits the God well, but isn’t as exciting as the others. I do like that it’s a special hybrid between Peach Blossom Spring and Healing Spring (in that the resources reduce the more it heals).
  • I dislike the Pillar of Tlalcan GP the most. For a mythic age power its really borning.
  • I dislike the Ahuizotl MU the least. It looks cool, but had a boring ability that seems like an after thought. The other two close contenders for most dislike MU is the Obsidian Butterfly (just seems to lack uniqueness because she’s like Kamaitachi and Avenger) and the little tower beam-shooting guys.
  • Volcano should be a little less like Tartarian Gate and Meteor, and should have a bit more of its own flavour. Unbuildable terrain for a few minutes after (like RotG) would be nice :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I’m really worried about the inclusion of Capybaras and Alpacas. Those don’t live in Mexico (lesser capybaras live in Panama at the closest). And for game purposes I don’t care, but Aztecs’ ancestral homeland is even further in the north.

I’m not worried because I think it’s another hint that they are working on Inca already.

That’d be cool. I also personally hope they add Tupis (I should learn more about their religion, I only know of Tupã).

Yeah the rush to get this out seems to indicate they have more decisive plans to make us part even quicker with our money. They could have done this expansion pass over a year, easily. But they are done and dusted in less than a quarter of that! :thinking:

okay don’t bash be again for using AI (i have a tiny trauma of that :smiley: ) but i wanted to make some ingame visualisation of the three things i would slighlty adjust despite everything else being awesome:


- editions: add the awesome vulcano in the background, add some firey effects mixed with the chill blue


- editions: let the unit fly and add some effects to the feathers and add a trail of dust behind


-editions: tried to make it look beefier/stronger without losing its awesome design

I think Volcano God Power could be the strongest god power ever seen in Age of Myhology. It lasts for too long resulting in such a high damage potential. I expect to be seeing Mictlantecuhtli be the top mythical age up choice.

I feel volcano would be more interesting/ unique (and less OPed) if it did slightly less area damage, but left behind unbuildable terrain. This could stop an opponent rebuilding a settlement for a few moments. The way Return of the Gods handled it was much better.

I hope not - although I’d understand (regional closeness like China - Japan), there are many, many more requested civs they put in the game first.

okay i was wrong. Patecatl in classical age seems the best/most reliable choice. same goes for Quetzalcoatl archaic age GP. totally underhestimated this GP also the more reliable and versitile even i think Huitzilopochtli’s has its very strong powerspikes and Tezcatlipoca’s is the most creative/interesting.

i hope they look a bit at the mythic age gods. Xolotl GP for example could use some adjustments like: make the corrupted ground like an arena unable to escape. or let the Tlacanexquimillis not spawn after a unit dies but spawn after a percentage of dmg dealt to a unit?
tlaloc pillar is also pretty cool but could need some buffs. would be cool his myth unit would get some upgrade to look a but more menacing even i like its design
