AoMR Immortal Pillars Gods

I have a hunch they’ll put them out to kind of tide the playerbase over between DLCs.

That’s what they did in AoE3DE they released Mexico as a single civilisation between 2 bigger DLC.

They probably already have plans for new major gods for all old pantheons.

I just hope that they will release more gods for Chinese and any other nation that comes in additional DLCs. From what we’ve seen so far from Chinese, I think that Huang Di might not be in at the release but would make for a perfect 4th option further down the line.

It really makes sense to release some minor gods between mayor dlc’s and I hope the team takes advantage of this opportunity

So in the latest clip they show us the great flood GP. (found on social media platforms)

It seems much more impressive visually and sound effect wise but not as devastating as the old version (thankfully!)

You also see:
TaoTie (about the same size as trolls)
TaoWu (about the same size as behemoths)
Baihu (about the same size as nemian lions)
Qilin (here I am a bit confused: we see the first version we have seen in images (attack melee with its head) but we also saw a version about double the size breathing fire. Are they different creatures or different versions? Both have the heal aura although the more subtle hella aura from the bigger version I do like more personally.)

Also we know - if the clip shows a recent version and not an older one that:

Qilin seems to be classic again, Baihu will be heroic and azure dragon will be mythic and can be trained by at least major god together.
So Goumang (?), Rushou, Gongong line up kinda confirmed.

Could you link it for those of us that don’t have twitter/x/whatever they’re calling it these days? They didn’t post it on Instagram sadly

But they did mate

Oh, AOM has their own Instagram page, I only follow the general AOE page. Good to know.

no problem mate glad I could help out

more news!

partly to my surprise i was wrong with my speculations so far. but hey, thats what speculations are here for.

i was right that Houtu will be a classical age goddess. but her myth unit will be the Qiongqi!

me and others were right that Nuba might be in the roster, and she is! and exactly with the unit i thought the would get. with the myth unit Taotie in the heroic age!

me and others were also right that Goumang will be in the roster, but not mythic or classical but heroic age with the myth unit Taowu!

and to my total suprise: Hundun will be the myth unit for Huangdi and in the mythic age!

  • i personally really thought Qiongqi will be mythic age and Hundun classical age. LOL xD

so to make it more clear we have now the following line up so far:

Classical Age:
Houtu (Qiongqi) / ? / ? [2 missing] (Chang’e?)

Heroic Age:
Nuba (Taotie) / Rushou (Baihu) / ? [1 missing] (Chiyou?)

Mythic Age:
Huangdi (Hundun) / Gonggong (Quinglong) / Zhurong (Zhuque)

Hundun will have two special abilites: aoe fear and banish units into the void for a short duration

Taowu will be like behemoth and scarab and has one special ability: charge!

Taotie will be very unique and has the following abilities: devouring (eats units and for each meal it grows in size - larger and larger! and it has a devastating fire blast attack! but when it uses the fire blast attack it gets smaller again and loses stats.

Qiongqi is also really unique: it will have an upgrade which gives it the badass horn and saberteeth we saw which grants the unit increased armor for each enemy unit around it! it also can walk on ground (slowly) and fly! (quickly) and has a high attack speed. so really the first myth unit which can toggle between ground and air mode!

What do you think?

So we know there will be 12 gods.

We know of:

  • Fuxi (major god)
  • Shennong (major god)
  • Nüwa (major goddess)
  • Houtu (classical age)
  • (Chang’e - speculated but likely)
  • Chiyou
  • Rushou
  • Goumang (heroic age)
  • Nüba (heroic age)
  • Gonggong (mythic age, speculated but very likely)
  • Zhurong (mythic age, speculated but very likely)
  • Huangdi (mythic age)

Because of the presence of Houyi, as a hero in the trailer, I agree that Chang’e is very likely to also be in there.
If you ask me, Chiyou and Chang’e are the other classical ones, and Rushou is the third heroic one. Could be wrong about it.

I know that people want Chang’e but wouldn’t be weird to leave out Xuanming? We are getting all of the others connected with 4 symbols. I would keep Chang’e in reserve for a gods pack further down the line. But I also wanted Huang Di to be kept as 4th major god and they made him minor again, so what do I know.:grinning:

We don’t know which of the gods is going to give us the Azure Dragon/Quinlong. People speculated that it would be Gonggong. Gaomung would have made more sense, and who knows, there are gods in other pantheons that have more than one myth unit. Sobek has two, Hel even three. The Qilin doesn’t seem to be connected to some group of four, nor is Yazi.
I would assume, people would want to command all four of each, which will not be possible with the four perils, because two of them are heroic. With the black tortoise being a water myth unit, and thus available to everyone anyway (again, speculation) it may be possible with the three other “Auspicious Beasts” if they are evenly spread between classical, heroic, and mythic age.
On that note, we can be pretty sure the Vermillion Bird/Zhuque is going to be mythic age. If the White Tiger/Baihu was heroic age, Azure Dragon/Quinlong would have to be classical and vice versa.
But that they’re going to spread them out like that, and not put an Auspicious Beast in the classical age, but two in the mythic age, and one in the heroic age, is simply a random guess and not based on evidence.
We don’t know if Chang’e will be even mentioned or hinted at. The fact that Houyi (her husband, as far as I read) is confirmed as a hero in the story, is the sole piece of evidence of her presence.
That’s enough to make us bring her up in speculation, but it’s not enough to prove she’s even in the game in any way, shape or form.
As for Huangdi, it would have been very strange for him to be left out, be it to be sold seperately later or completely, after all the hints both trailers have towards him, mentioning and presenting several elements and characters directly connected to him.
It would be like, if the Norse were the DLC, and you have hel mentioned in the video description, you show fenris wolves in the trailer, and the Jörmund Elmer, Giants fighting Einherjar, you mention a godpower being called Ragnarök, accessible through Baldr, and then Loki just isn’t there, and Hel is exclusive to Freyr, just as Vidar, Ägir, and Ullr are.

I agree with everything except for:

Goumang would fit Quinlong better. Since he is the god of spring and wood (which why I thought first the Qilin would be his myth unit cause of the healing = spring) he is also the brother of Rushou. (which i don’t know)

Gonggong has to have Quinlong cause:

  • Gonggong is associated with water
  • We saw Quinlong in one of the screenshot
  • (great flood was a myth age GP last time too and is obviously water)
So in my book Gonggong is mythic age with “waterdragon” as his myth unit

But I agree Chang’e is complete speculation beside her husband as a hero and that she was in the old game too with Qilin as her myth unit. (and we basically only don’t know what Qilin’s Minor God is)

And yeah after seeing what you wrote Chiyou makes perfect sense as the other classical age god. Cause other spots are taken and might overthought that lightning weapons will be as strong/(duration wise long) as flaming weapons

Not too much into the topic but: Wouldn’t Yu Huang Shangdi make more sense as a fourth major god?
I think Huang Di was surely obvious and is important but Yu Huang Shangdi makes more sense as a major god don’t you agree?

I’m really excited for the upcoming Age of Mythology: Retold expansion, especially seeing all the new mechanics and improvements coming to the game. It’s amazing to see the level of detail and effort being put into updating this classic, and I can’t wait to dive into it.

However, after watching the newly released footage, I have to admit I’m a bit disappointed—particularly with the Water Flood spell that the Chinese civilization has. The spell looks visually stunning and powerful, really emphasizing the might of water as a destructive force. But seeing that only makes me wonder why Poseidon, the god of the sea himself, doesn’t have an equally impressive water-based ability.

It feels like a missed opportunity to truly showcase Poseidon’s domain. While he has a strong naval focus in the game, it would have been amazing to see him wield some kind of tidal wave, maelstrom, or even a divine storm ability. Instead, it seems like the Greek gods didn’t get the same level of creativity when it comes to water magic.

I’m still incredibly hyped for the expansion, but I can’t help but feel that Poseidon deserved better in terms of mythic abilities. Hopefully, there’s still time for some adjustments, or maybe even a future patch that gives him a spell worthy of his title as the ruler of the seas.

Is it possible you’re mixing up Quinlong with Yinglong, which is confirmed as well?
Yinglong, the big winged dragon, is associated with rain, thus water.

But Quinlong, the Azure Dragon, is part of a four-animal group where water is already covered by the black tortoise, that also represents winter and south. Zhuque, or the Vermillion Bird, linked to summer, and north, Baihu, the White Tiger, representing autumn and west, comes with Rushou, which is sometimes called the god of metal, and in AoM he’s referred to as the god of Gold. From what I gather, also from Wikipedia, the Azure Dragon would be associated with spring and and east. And if he’s associated with any element, it would be wood.

I’m not an expert on chinese mythology either, so I can’t rule out that I’m completely wrong about all of it. But that’s the impression I have so far.

Poseidon doesn’t have such god power because he is a major god. As an mythic age god, he would have something like that for sure but that’s not the case. Major gods don’t have big god powers (just because their god powers are the early game starting powers) and they have no myth unit at all. That’s how the game is designed. Maybe something like a fifth ‘‘wonder age’’ god power based on you major god could be something cool to change that. Maybe something big with a one time use only. In this scenario, poseidon could get something similar. And it would be a nice twist to ‘‘reduce’’ some wonder age bonuses on the other hand. But that’s just fantasizing. In the current game design, a big wave for poseidon wouldn’t make sense i guess.

Back to topic: What i’ve seen so far for the chinese pantheon sounds awesome and i’m very optimistic that me and my friends will have alot of fun with the dlc
Chang’e would be nice to have for sure. As someone who don’t know much about chinese mythology, she is one of the figures that stick in my mind when i think about chinese mythology. I don’t know why
