I simply bought it because it’s useful for scenario assets. I make maps and the content of this DLC can be useful for a diplomacy maps based in China. And also I’m looking forward to playing 10x shared civ mod with the new civs.
Some of the content in the DLC could also be useful for non chinese-based scenarios.
I don’t really care about ranked too much. I’d much rather play a strange scenario or 4v4 michi with these new civs.
I think I will grt it alongside all the others Imq missing if theres any discounts in July for the other DLCs
But I was going to try to buy it day one (if it was good) before the news
Worst of all, I think the new 3K civs are mostly well designed (and Jurchens and “Khitans” look great if not a tiny bit underpowered), but the balabce and UUs are horrible, and I hate that they are based on third century Chinese dynasties
I think I might buy it few day before release. I want to play and support, and I think the campaigns are probably fun, but I want to make the team feel I won’t buy instantly anything they throw and I would like them to delay the DLC in order to correct it
Since I don’t play ranked it doesn’t make too much of a difference if the 3 Kingdom civs are Chronicles or not.
But I do think the Chronicles units and the different naval system would be nice for the 3 Kingdoms too.
I generally like what the DLC will offer so I’ll buy it.
Realistically yeah i’ll eventually buy it and just be annoyed when I do. Ideally I’d rather wait until the summer sale though, so I can at least get a bit of a point across by not buying it during presale…but I might buy it earlier, I dunno.
I respect that people do scenario editing a lot don’t have much choice.
I cannot stand the idea of 3K in the base game. So unfortunately for me I won’t get it even if it’s for free as it is right now.
I also could not stand the previous chronicles DLC civs in the base game, but you have the option to opt out. Considering the well-made campaign I bought it. I also mainly play unranked and I just don’t make or join lobbies that have “All” civ set enabled.
The units/buildings should be available in scenario editor even without the DLC. Though the civs wouldn’t be (so still worth buying). I like to make random map scripts, and I’m planning on buying it - having the civs for testing purposes can be good. And I also tend to like the DLC civs for competitive games.
Without actually playing them, I think it’s a bit hard to get an accurate sense of how strong they are. My personal suspicion is that they’ll all end up in the 40-60% range, assuming any serious bugs with the new units get fixed (I think there is a game-breaking one with the rocket carts). The Hei Guang cavalry look strong, but I think they’ll be a fair bit more vulnerable to cavalry-counter units (like pikes/halbs).
In an ideal world I would have preferred they were separate so they could have era appropriate skins.
They added regional monks after five years so maybe we’ll get regional Chinese skins in 2030.
But after reading about and being very disappointed I am reconsidering. I will eventually buy for the campaigns, but just because of that, instead of believing in the devs like I did in the other DLCs.
Since Rise of the Raja I buy every DLC, cause I grew up with this game. So to me, content is content, no matter the content I’ll always be excited at more content for the game of my childhood. (I started to play before the conqueror release)
Also, as map maker, love the new things. Already working on them with all the exciting possibilities the patch opened, especially those new attacks behaviors.
Not going to buy it not worth the money, IMO they’ve only added 2 new civs whereas the other 3 shouldn’t have been added in ranked game at all. Plus out of the 2 new civs one is a “Khangut” or “Khitangut” abomination.
And even if I don’t buy it I’d still get the new graphics plus the reworked Chinese and Korean civs for free, so why wasting the money?
Wei,Shu,Wu,they are just Han civ,how they become three different “civs”?OMG,that’s too ridiculous.OK, Devs might have ate some shit.It seems they will add Nicene,Ibiraeus,Trabzonians for Byzantines in future.I rather than pay for Khitans and Jurchens or Chronicles of three kingdoms, instead of this disgrace.
I was going to buy it, but I changed my mind. I’m confused to read the 4 civ bonus (except Jurchens). I feel less unique in 3 kingdoms and I don’t sure Khitans is truly Khitans (mixing with Tanguts?). I regard Romans is the exception, but 3 kingdoms are unacceptable. Why not chronicles…
