As the coordinator and manager of the Age of Empires series, does World's Edge discriminate too much against Empire 3 players?

World’s Edge is not related to AOE3DE. Devs the Tantalus and Forgotten Empires

True.

This is what I cannot understand.
If I were a product manager (of course I’m not), I won’t bother if any game in the series could generate some extra profits. Whatever game that is.

I don’t think any higher-up management, with the shrewd, calculated stereotype, would be so childish that they “don’t want one of their product to outshine another one they prefer”.
But then why would they make such not-shrewd, not-calculated decisions of hiding some real quality content under complete radio silence? The work is already there! Advertise a little more and people will buy it.
Does that prevent people from buying “their favorite kid”?
No - so what’s the problem?
Yes - then you should really re-consider how you prioritize your products.

Maybe that’s why I am NOT a product manager.

Worlds Edge oversees all age of empires series / mythology related development. Its a microsoft ‘branch’. Also they have financial decision, so ‘microsoft’ sponsored continuos tournaments for aoe2 are from them.

World’s Edge oversees everything AoE-related.

Where is that written? And why is there no in the list of publisher-developer in Steam? Xbox Game Studios oversees everything AoE-related

I appreciate the feedback! I’m the SMM for the franchise and recently began a much-needed overhaul of our outbound content last week. Not mentioning it was Age III is an oversight on my part and not a deliberate omission, I was under the impression it would be easily identifiable at a glance.

Age III is my and our copywriter’s favorite title in the series and it’s only in recent weeks that we’ve been able to actually dip our toes back into creating any content at all outside of necessary communications and two major releases this year (compare the past six months to the six months before that).

The downside of having a smaller team compared to last year also is having to pick and choose and be strategic about the output of content on the channels based on what’s realistic for us to create in a timely fashion.

It’s a slow start incorporating it and other fun content back into the schedule, and there will be some growing pains as we test a few things, but this is intended to be a long-term addition rather than just spamming a bunch of Age III stuff all at once and then disappearing.

What you said is very helpful and gives me some ideas about what can be improved upon on our end content wise.

Not to cry over spilled milk, but it would be really nice to get an official explanation as to why 3DE was left out of the anniversary event that was supposed to celebrate the ENTIRE series. That was downright egregious and something that shouldn’t be forgotten.

Your efforts and outreach are really appreciated. Hope the situation will improve gradually.

I didn’t know there was a recent change, it is harsh for you that just entered, but this isn’t a recent thing. Aoe3 was always ‘excluded’ like this in previous occasions as well, as some examples are also provided by OP.

People inside the aoe circle can recognize it but not anyone that might get this content suggested. Even some hash like #Aoe3De or something like that will make it clear and favour the use of those tags as wrll.

Also there was a clear decievement when posting some screenshots as it wasn’t specified that it was done ‘meanwhile the patch is delayed’, it looked like it was done to gather engagement/discussion… which tbf is the social manager job but whats its consequence? People feel they were cheated.

Thank you for your response. You have a pretty hot potato in your hands. Please understand that a lot of the members of the forum, myself included, are pretty frustrated with this situation.

we do not need their attention, we can sustain ourselves

While any kind of promotion for this game is appreciated, I felt those screenshots were nothing more than throwing us a bone for the delay. Word’s Edge hasn’t inspired much trust within the AoE3 community. Placating isn’t gonna help matters, either.

if worlds edge has partnership with tantalus and forgotten empires which are the main devs studios for aoe3, what do you think it means?

Patch can be delayed for any reason but they need to be clear about it, say that the patch is delayed until further notice. Not going around and around it, making fool of the players, saying aoe4 hotfixes had more priority…

Why was pup ended early, if the cycle of patch was favored towards aoe2 and aoe4? We don’t know.

Why not leave the pup up for until 1 week before you are Certain the patch is going to be released? we don’t know.

And if you have to lie, create a better lie, like they found a huge bug that they are fixing…

The screenshots felt the way they did now because of unclear communication on the images, on the post, attempt at deception and still uncertainty of the patch release date. Aoe3 players played pup a month ago and have still no idea when the game is gonna get the update and/or the changes made after that pup.

Whats the point of pup if majority of changes aren’t ‘test-ed’ through the pup?

(the censorship thinks i am talking about tes/ti/cu/la)

Sad truth is: if someone gets out of their way to contrive a lie for you, it at least shows they care about your response…
When they don’t even bother to lie to you…

Clearly, they want to avoid making patches and events too close to each other.

Then just aoe2 released the latest activities and patches, aoe3 is a joke. Never taken seriously by managers.

You see, they don’t even bother to work together to contrive a more plausible lie. How many meetings did it take for them to decide the release date of this AOE2 update?

Last week they gave you an excuse. Yesterday they gave you some placebo. Today someone comes and backstabs both of them. What’s the problem? You feel cheated? Who cares?

Avoiding overlaps? Ha.

If anything, 4 and 2 compete for players more than 4 and 3 do, considering that Ages 4 and 2 cover the same eras, are based on similar gameplay, and such - we know AoE4 is more like 2.5.

Age 3 contains features and components that neither other game have, such home city shipments, mercenaries, asymmetrical civilization design, trade routes, or minor natives. As a result, Age 3 fans have little interest in returning to the more basic gameplay 4 offers.
