I just don’t get why they didn’t just immediately come out and say that there was a technical difficulty and the patch would be out in the beginning of August, sorry for delay problem solved. But they didn’t they just ended the PUP an then silence. Also as people said earlier to the OP I think that their snubbing of AoE 3 de at the anniversary event and the Red Bull tournament as well as Microsoft’s general overlooking the game is not just offensive to the players of AoE 3 but what about the devs that have done a great job on updates? Basically your saying we don’t care about the product your working on even though the customers like it and give positive feedback. It honestly just hurts the franchise this snubbing. Because the more you promote all the games the more players in total you can get and the more money you can make, they can’t do that because AoE 3 de makes their shiny new AoE 4 look not so shiny.
If they really cared about us they wouldn’t have let us in the dark for weeks.
The amount of pressure our community had to extert to get answers for this mess is absolutely baffling.
The worst part is that Inferno had to take all the bullets for someone else failure.
Also if the same thing would happen with aoe2, they would have communicated about this within a few hours. And it wouldn’t have taken a month to get a release date.
That is the source of all conspiracy.
Why would ANY business give no credit to a large amount of work they have done?
According to some people, this game receives the largest amount of highest quality work. It is not only disproportional to the games’ popularity, but also absolutely greater than that of other games. Well we cannot quantify that. But then shouldn’t such work deserve the most acknowledgement as well?
A true end-of-support means no major work. This is the curious case of end-of-publicity.
You already paid people to do the work. Now what? Shouldn’t you try to milk from it as much as possible? Shouldn’t you try to let everyone know “hey we did a lot of work to improve the game. Come and try it out?”
Does it bother you so much if part of your own work produces a little additional income?
No we’re not talking about “which game is more profitable to work on”. You have already worked on it.
I believe the developers have put extraordinary passion into making the game. We usually portray higher-ups as emotionless businessmen who only care about profits, but an emotionless businessman would not do something like this.
That points to some serious management problems underneath. There is probably very poor coordination, or even rivalry, between parts of the management.
If they don’t change their attitude towards their own games, it will lead to loss of confidence and hurt the SERIES further.
To be fair, ROR was left in complete radio silence for months, before people started to get impatient.
But one day after the release they were surveying which campaign to add XD.
Very likely that was already planned before the release. If the response was okay-ish they’d let it pass. If not then they would play this card to appease people.
And we haven’t even received a perfunctory treatment like this even once.
This is a screen from last year july, when we almost reached aoe4

Supposedly, because there was no room for more than 3 games and that for this year’s RBW they will include it in AoE 3…
They also made no mention of AoE Online…in the AoE history video they mentioned it in the comments…they went all the way to 2005 and then jumped to 2018 with 1 DE (skipping AoEO, mobile games and AoE 2 HD and AoM EE)
Yes, if you are going to give the game expansions as good as TAR and KOTM, why do you destroy it like that? It doesn’t make sense, it’s a very bipolar attitude… just say “we don’t like AoE 3 because it makes AoE 4 look like a worse game, we give them expansions but for us, AoE 3 players throw themselves into a well if they don’t play AoE 4”
Also because of the historical period and because it strays a bit from the “essence” (whatever that is) of AoE 1 and AoE 2…
Yes, at the end of the day, play both games and that’s it… I play from AoE 1 to AoE 4, also going through AoM and AoEO… play the games for what they are, but always making constructive criticism to improve them… AoE 1 died but they improved it with RoR, AoE 2 can improve with more regional skins, AoE 3 with more tutorials for players to learn how to play the game, it would also not hurt, more campaigns and maps and historical battles and AoE 4 more fauna in land and water and obviously more campaigns and also historical battles…
Of course, that’s why it’s weird… all the reviews of AoE 3 OG said marvels about the game, that is, it’s not a game thing, but the perception that the players had of the game… for example in North America and Europe, AoE 2 and AoE 3 are more or less on par…in contrast, in Latin America, AoE 2 is much more popular than AoE 3, although Latin American players find it amusing to be able to play with their countries in AoE 3 as revolutions (there are certain margin of opportunity if LA revs became full civs)…
The idea was to launch Brazil last year (for its bicentennial), now it would be the idea to launch Brazil and Central America (for its bicentennial)
The Federal Republic of Central America [2] (Spanish: República Federal de Centroamérica) was a sovereign state south of Mexico which existed from 1823 to 1841. Originally known as the United Provinces of Central America, the democratic republic was composed of the territories of the former Captaincy General of Guatemala of New Spain.
Central America consisted of the present-day southern Mexican state of Chiapas,[3] the countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, as well as parts of Belize. In the 1830s, a sixth state was added—Los Altos, with its capital in Quetzaltenango; it occupied parts of what are now Chiapas and the western highlands of Guatemala.
Shortly after Central America declared independence from the Spanish Empire in 1821, some of its countries were annexed by the First Mexican Empire in 1822 and then Central America formed the federal republic in 1823. From 1838 to 1840, the federation descended into civil war, with conservatives fighting against liberals, and separatists fighting to secede. These factions were unable to overcome their ideological differences and the federation was dissolved after a series of bloody conflicts.
Yes, I agree…look at the difference between the European civs and the Native civs…only the Ottomans have the same amount of military UUs as the Native civs…while the French only have the Cuirassier…
Yes, very curious everything xd…
Yes, I agree, only 2 expansions for 3 DE would leave me very cold…
They are bipolar people, heretics of the only and true religion (AoE 2) xd…“I consider the Middle Ages (AoE 2-AoE 4) an archaic era, I claim the ideas of Rome and Greece (AoE 1) as the Renaissance man that I am, although I prefer the age of reason and enlightenment (AoE 3) as the future that the saga must follow”…Voltaire
That’s true, other companies usually abandon a game for the newer one… we’re lucky that FE keeps all the games at the same time (1 DE in RoR, 2 DE, 3 DE, 4 and AoM with Retold)…
That’s true…they have a fear of AoE 3 which is not normal…
You nailed it. It’s quite obvious there is some people behind with strong feelings (negative feelings) towards this game.
An emotionless businessman would want to profit from this game as much as possible, not sabotage it while part of your own company is working on it.
Much like a significant part of the aoe2 community, there are a few higher-ups with not just mere apathy, but even contempt towards this game.
I find no other explanation
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
Their actions can be explained by an ignorant and apathetic marketing team that is also probably stretched too thin.
- They know next to nothing about the AoE games other than some superficial AoE2 stuff and spoon fed AoE4 stuff
- They know that 2 and 4 are like >75% of the audience so that’s where they focus their efforts
- They probably don’t have the time, resources, or interest to look into AoE3 to get more familiar
- So they never get enough of an understanding to realize that AoE3 has a ton of potential to be more popular and is getting some of the best quality updates that should be highlighted
Well of course I’d rather that is the case.
Like in one of the rare instances where AOE3 were shown or mentioned in an event (thank god), almost nobody among the hosts is familiar enough with it and called “cannon galleon”…
Maybe “familiar” is too high a standard. How long does it take to do a short reading (I would not call it research) on a few proper names in the game that you’re about to present?
Maybe they are planning to put the July update directly into the next DLC, so be patient.
Yup!
Just keep patient like fools as all of us over a month ago, you’ll get what you deserve with another disappointment one after another.
Enjoy your “patient”~ ![]()
It is what it is.
You can be patient or not (not sure how that works
) - it will come out next week as they have said. They are aware that it is far later than normal. It will be whatever the PUP notes showed us, obviously refined for the actual patch as normal. Anything else is a bonus.
At least it will be updated.
Now go out and enjoy the outside, if a game update is starting to get to you.
It makes me happy to know that people enjoy my memes even after so much time xD
Yeah, like telling me you’re an AoE 2 player without telling me you’re an AoE 2 player; although it was kind of obvious that they were going to call AoE 2 streamers and they were going to see AoE 3 stuff and they were going to confuse it with stuff from AoE 2…
Meme that is really true… AoE 4 loses players in favor of AoE 3, since AoE 3 with the photos on Steam invites you to buy it and try it and then bye, you stay in the game…
There won’t be a RBW this year.
When the patch finally drops.
The “true adults” be like: “See? I’ve always been telling you they are going to release the patch sooner or later. There’s no need to be angry.”
Do u make the best memes of all aoe3 comunity
The problem with this matter is that the developer unreasonably delayed the completion of the content without providing a reasonable explanation to the player, but only dealt with the player with two images.
What those so-called mature players don’t know is that if no one comes forward, this kind of unfounded procrastination and discrimination will only become more common.
This incident also clearly indicates that the communication between developers and players is disconnected and cannot be brought into the player community. The arrogant belief that using two images can appease the player community has resulted in anger among players.
If the official is willing to explain the technical issues and difficulties encountered to the player community well, I think most players can accept it. However, they did not provide any communication and only took out two pictures to handle the situation. The official should communicate well with the players and explain their own difficulties, rather than treating the players as fools.
I think maybe we should first understand that the delay of this update is not largely decided by the developers, but by the World’s Edge responsible for management and distribution. We can also see this through the response of the officials.
Finally there is someone speak up from heart, instead of talk nonsense to pretend adult.
You give someone an inch and they’ll take a mile, this is just pathetic reality in the modern video game industry.
Particular reason of course is caused by these “mature players” like @Skadidesu always give corporations an inch again and again even siding with them and ask consumers “Shut the fuck up!”.
Until they finally dare to ern your money meanwhile turn their back on the consumers.
BTW, I’m pretty happy to pay them more money as they want, but provide a complete product to consumers is just basic rule.
As long as they are willing to provide complete product, I will NEVER complain about its prices.
That’s why I said every procrastination and discrimination are players deserve.
That’s weird, I thought they would…
