Assigning default player in the Editor?

Hi All,

I’ve been messing around with the editor for a while and one point of frustration I have is that you can’t assign just a “Default” Civilization in the Player Data section. Specifically, when you go to play a scenario, if a player chooses a civilization that differs from the assigned major god in Player Data, the titan spawns incorrectly when built. It’s a small thing–but it annoys the heck outta me.

Has anyone discovered a work-around for this?

Much obliged!

Yes, this can be an issue with Scenarios.

If the map is intended to be Single-player, you could set it up as a 1-mission Campaign. Campaigns don’t give players the option to edit their god choice or the AI they’re fighting against, the map loads exactly as you designed it. And you get to add some additional descriptions, background images, etc.

If you want the player to be able to edit the AI type, AI god, or play it multiplayer, then it has to stay as a Scenario. You can’t lock the god, but you can use Triggers to set the player Civilization and God tech status to force them into the civ you want.

Edit; Actually, you may already be doing this. As Titans don’t seem to change when Civs are set. You could use a looping Player: Change Type for Units effect to change the titans to the desired one, for example TitanCerberus to TitanBird, and have an effect for each non desired Titan. This keeps the Titan birth effect when the gate is finished.
