Asus ROG Ally loading AOE4 seems to force console mode

I have come to use AOE4 today on my Asus ROG Ally and it’s forcing me into some sort of console mode. It’s really annoying because the game play has really changed. How do I continue to play just in PC mode please.

This issue is happening on Legion Go as well. There is no way to turn off the console UI, I’ve tried disabling the controller in steam settings and switching controls to kbam in the in-game settings without any luck. There should be a setting to turn this off for handheld PCs, as many players would be using their handhelds as regular PCs on large screens with kbam controls

is there any update on this please support? Surely there must be a work around to this?

Same on Steam Deck. Give us at least a setting to go back to the old/pc ui/ux.

Is there any update on this please? It has totally ruined game play for me and seemingly many others lookign on Reddit. The fact there is no response at all from a support person is very annoying.

I’m having the same issue, basically no response from support. They don’t seem to care if the game is playable or not.

I posted this over on Reddit as well. It seems that the latest patch, which is specifically targeted to handheld owners, allows you to switch back and forth between K&M and console style UIs. However, there’s a nuance to this.

To me it’s very clear that users are looking for the PC K&M layout not the console K&M layout. FWIW I think all keyboard and mouse players should use the same UI (the PC one)

If you are on steam at least, you can add the following to the launch options to go back to the PC UI:
SteamDeck=0 %command%

Conversely, if you use:
SteamDeck=1 %command%
on your pc, you can play with the console UI

Both ways work for me on my PC and Steamdeck. Hope that helps and works with your Rog Ally

It has been a Month and no replies from someone that can help with this problem on the Rog Ally? The system can clearly handle the 4 v 4 game play. Why would the devs do this? Is there a command we can use to open it without the restriction? Please someone reply with a blue post to let us know you have read this. Let us know that you are looking into this or I should move on to Starcraft.
