Aztecs need slight rework

Aztecs were serial nerfed for the last 5 years. They got a nice buff with the last big patch but the new Jaguar Warrior atk bonus seems messy.

As a monk and infantry civ, a better synergy should exist between Monks and infantry. Or at least between monks and JW. Maybe monks should heal 2 or 3 times faster JW to help them keeping there bonus atk.

Aztecs UU is still too niche comparing to Mayans/Incas UU.

Another possibility would be to revert to food cost of Eagles (20 food instead of 25) to make again Aztecs a very agressive Feudal civ.

Not only Aztecs UU. Basically slow infantry UUs are niche. Incas discount need to be changed if eagles price get cheaper.

Jaguar Warriors are OP and needs to be nerfed asap.

They are not OP, they are broken. Its different. They need rework not nerf.

Yes. They break the immersion with their disgustingly high attack and by not having any weaknesses.

People are accustomed to awful unique units and get puzzled when they see a UU that’s worth training.

Unique units are important part of civs’ identities, plus these units require a castle, which is a huge opportunity cost. Of course they should be good enough to be worth training.

I don’t think you understand anything about game balance. For a supposed game designer, that’s not good.

I’d like to see the +5 carry capacity come back, or at least +4.

What Elo you play ? When I play against Aztecs JW are the last UU I worry about.

Siege, ranged units still threaten JW?

I think I remember watching a video one year ago saying that they are top civ in the hands of pro players even with all the nerfs.

It doesn’t apply because now Aztecs are below 50% win rate whatever the Elo. They were directly nerfed it’s a thing. But they were also indirectly nerfed by the buff of other civilisations + new Indian civilisations with good gun powder or range infantry units.

The last big patch was supposed to buff infantry civs. But in reality it didn’t help much.

The 25 food Eagles killed the Hoang strategy.

Yeah but I’m comparing them to other infantry units. They’re Champions but twice as good, with no weaknesses compared to Champions.

Teutonic Knights are also twice or three times as good as Champs, but they have slower movement speed to compensate.

Jaguars are produced from paper-made pseudo castles backed up by a diminished eco bonus.

Teutonic Knights are produced from Crenellation castles backed by a snowbally eco bonus.

One of the advantage of the +5 carry capacity, was the possibility to finish a dear with only 3 villagers instead of 4.

Aztecs should get Hoardings, 4800 Hp Castles too soft these days

Why not, but I would prefer aggressive buff more than defensive buff more in line with the civ identity.

Honestly, jaguar warrior isn’t OP/broken as it still dies to range. Now if you want to look at a good infantry unique unit, look at the Kamayuk which unlike the jaguar, has decent pierce armor. As we’ve learned from the urumi, an infantry unit can be as busted as you want in melee combat but as long as it dies to archers, it’s balanced.

How has better PA, both have 6 PA maxed out.
