POW . Is it because babies and violence don’t mix?
From where did this rumour spawn?
Nah, otherwise it’d been already removed from AoE 1 DE. Most likely an oversight
Violence itself, we play Genghis and Tamerlane and both are in the very select club of people who killed more than the Austrian painter. And it’s supposed to be an adult man dressed as a baby.
Man, this is why I’m hesitant to have campaigns for my modern Age of Empires game where you play as actual dictators. Because Genghis Khan and Tamerlane were rather far removed from us, but these people lived only about 40-80 years ago, which is a huge difference.
“Good news”, it’s rare for country leaders to lead their armies themselves. Having a Zhukov or a Rommel campaign would’t be playing as the Georgian moustacheman or the Austrian moustacheman.
Hmmm, that’s a good alternative.
Yeah,it’s like playing Sudden Strike 4…you play with Zhukov and Rommel and never see anyone complained for that…
Rommel is indeed a “safe” choice for WW2 Germany, he’s mainly known for the Western Front and North Africa, that were nowhere near as inhumane as the Eastern Front. In the end due to his leader being increasingly paranoid, he was ordered to end himself, but died of wounds before. He also has a reputation of respecting the rules of war, though partly embellished by the Allies who wanted to turn West Germany into an ally after the war so they needed a respectable figuread.
As for Zhukov, after having a key role in winning the war, he was kept away from political power after the war (too high profile to get eliminated though) then took his revenge by supporting the more reasonible Khrushchev against “mister Gulag” Beria (who was even worse than Stalin).
In both cases they can indeed be differenciated from the crimes commited by their countries.
Yes, you can touch WWII in a modern AoE (cough cough the EE saga did it in the early 2000s), just don’t touch complex topics like the Holocaust, except to give some character development…
Does Jack be Nimble still work? Also it’s POW without the exclamation mark… Good job on changing the look on Nuke Trooper.
