[BETA] Some campaign bugs (and extra feedback)

This post won’t follow the conventional bug report format as they are multiple minor issues and wouldn’t warrant a thread for each one.

I managed to play the Act I: Blood campaign and the first 2 scenarios of the Act II: Ice campaign. While this is far from covering all of the campaigns, it shows that there needs to be extra playtesting on the dev side to make sure the DLC patch doesn’t introduce any new bugs, while making the campaign more up to date with the rest of the game.

Apologies in advance for the low res pictures.

Civilizations

Knights of Saint John still uses the British Church model. Even worse, the beta changed the House model to the western european architecture, instead of the mediterranean one.

The Native American civ still displays the Circle flag on its units

Javelin units still throw javelins at buildings, despite the change to their siege attack animations.

Boneguard still lack modifiers for unit types introduced in the expansions.

Cherokee Riflemen’s weapons disappear during their melee animations

Into the Caves

The dialogue at the start of the scenario uses a bordered portrait. It should be using swiss_pikeman_portrait.png instead, which is borderless.

The coast where the Ottoman dock is found has jagged terrain, preventing the player from disembarking Settlers to gather the resource crates around the Mosque. There is a workaround that lets you to disembark them by sitting a ship very close and clicking the Settlers inside one by one to eject them them on to the shore.

Another mismatched portrait. When the Weapon Caches are destroyed, a Hoop Thrower spawns and tells Morgan about the hidden passage. The portrait shows a Crossbowman instead

Library of Stone

Alain slides past Morgan wildly through the cave and back while doing his speaking animation.

PIRATES!

The Sailor’s portrait shows a Villager rather than a Crossbowman (the unit flashing during the dialogue in the below images). This is easy to miss, but it might be consistent for this character throughout this particular scenario. Might be worth looking into the dialogue trigger info to verify.

Right Where we Stand

When the camera pans towards the top-down angle on the map, a Crossbowman tries to walk to the same place as Morgan, bumping into him and pathing awkwardly next to him.

In the last scene, one of the Crossbowman units is not properly replaced and instead remains in place where the new one stands. Yes, this cutscene changes from one Crossbowman unit to another in between scenes for some reason.

A Pirate’s Help

There is a Travois perpetually frozen on the Trading Post from the start of the scenario, with the man slightly separated from the rest of the unit. It remains in place even after the trading route becomes active once the optional objective is completed.

The Seminole Chief looks off today. Bad hair day perhaps? Please playtest the dialogue changes

Spanish Treasure Fleet

Not necessarily a bug, but the voice makes it evident that it was Chilche who said this line, so perhaps his portrait could be used? None of the Bolas Warriors flash when this dialogue plays, so you could take this liberty.

Strange Alliances

John Black has a Build Trading Post button enabled despite there being no TP sockets in the map.

One of the treasures that spawn once the British arrive is different from the 2 Settler treasures guarded by Renegade Musketeers.

Yes, at this point my “mod” (it’s not really a mod, except for some folder changes) does it a little better…

There’s an additional objective that doesn’t work due to a bug. It’s been around since Vanilla.
