Brazilian empire should be a new civilization

We can’t have a good experience playing with Brazil only by rebellion. Brazil have all conditions to be a civilization, like Mexico, Brazil got independent after the war against Portugal and the empire got a powerless militar force, on the ground and the sea.

Trying to convince people of this awesome new civ by saying their military was useless sure is one of the arguments of all time.

But actually, there is some truth to that; the Brazilian army may have been lacking and not particularly strong at the outset—and was even backed by European mercenaries in some instances—but after independence, Brazil committed to building up its military power. By the mid-19th century, it had succeeded, becoming one of the most powerful and modern South American armies of the era.

And it was an empire and fought against Argentina (1825-1828) and Paraguay (1864-1870)…

Whilst I’m never that enamoured by Fed State civs and obviously want Persia/Iran more than anything, I wouldn’t mind a single Fed State DLC Civ (following how US and Mexico were released) as an ‘easy win’ DLC for Worlds Edge. There’s plenty of folks that would happily throw money at it.

…also it means we can give Brazil the Cangaçeiro hero skin and give Portugal more love on that front…

Brazil does have the advantage that a huge part of the playerbase is there.

Like if people really wanna use the numbers argument, by all intents and purposes Brazil is the market left to cater to.

That said, why no one is asking for a Tupi civ?

Empire of Brazil would be awesome as a civ. Strong export economy, war of the triple alliance would be a treasure trove of info etc.. Quite professionalised force, naval arms race. Could be similar to Portugal in it’s units roster, but without halbs.

We need a big South America DLC:

  • United Provinces (Argentina)
  • Empire of Brazil
  • Gran Colombia

And some revolution/independence scenarios or campaigns

Kinda reminds me of a few of the Moroccan civ requests with simply copypasting the Berber and Bedouin units as generic units exactly from the Battle of the Three Kings historical battle unlike the AoTW Moroccans which have more identity rather than Ottomans 2.0.

If we were having a big South American DLC, It would be crazy to only have, what I assume would be fed states + it would seem like a massive shame not to have Mapuche or another Native tribe.

I think people need to chill out on the civ requests for the time being. The game just got resurrected for hell’s sake. If this DLC does well, and there is indication it has ignited a 2nd spark of life for the game, then by all means fire away with civ proposals.

Let’s enjoy the necromantic ritual now and see where it goes.

Yeah, I would rather have Mapuche and another native civ rather than just federal states.

Yes, the fact that such a classic civilization from the saga as Persia is not yet in AoE 3 is a crime against humanity…

Yes, a South American DLC similar to the one for AoE 2 for AoE 3…

Yes, I hope it’s a mix between Portugal and Mexico (Ragamuffin’s wars are similar to the revolutions that Mexico had in the 1840s)…

I rather have the dawn of SA nations, wars between Brazil and Argentina. Simón Bolivar and San Martin liberatng South America, even War of the triple alliance if its possible (adding Paraguay as a faction ofc) We already have the Araucania war in AoE2

It’s really funny cuz people always assume I’d give anything to have a Chile civ, but, like, no bro it’s mapuche the civ I want.

Yes, the same, the Araucanía War lasted 3 centuries…

While Brazil would be fine too, I’m actually looking forward more to Safavid or Afsharid Persia; it’s been a long time since Asia welcomed a new companion…

They have more incommon with the ottomans tho? Incidentally their main opponent.

There’s more unique to Persia/Iran than common between them and Ottoman.

I mean you just have to look at the Euro civs if that was the argument against…
