Dear World’s Edge and AOE Devs,
As a long-time player and passionate fan of Age of Empires II, I respectfully urge you to consider what feels like a glaring absence in the current roster of historical campaigns: Suleiman the Magnificent, and with him, a true Ottoman campaign.
Let’s face it – we’ve marched with El Cid, held firm with Jan Žižka, expanded empires with Yodit, fought rebellions with Le Loi, and conquered the steppes with Tamerlane. But one of the most iconic figures of the early modern era – Sultan Suleiman I – is missing from our battlefield. Why?
This man ruled for 46 years over one of the largest empires in history. He led legendary sieges, reformed the legal system, fought both the Safavids and the Habsburgs, and transformed the Ottoman Empire into a true superpower. His life reads like it was designed for AOE II gameplay:
- The Conquest of Belgrade (1521)
- The Siege of Rhodes (1522)
- The crushing victory at Mohács (1526)
- The First Siege of Vienna (1529)
- Naval supremacy under Barbarossa
- Epic Persian campaigns
- And even internal drama with his own sons and grand viziers.
This isn’t just history – it’s high drama, strategic variety, and perfect campaign material. Imagine leading elite Janissaries, bombarding fortress walls with great cannons, navigating diplomacy with both East and West, all under the golden crescent of Suleiman’s rule.
You’ve already embraced diversity with Indian, African, Southeast Asian, and East European civilizations. So why not the Ottomans – not just as a general “Turks” civ, but with a story, a campaign, a soul?
The Turkish player base is huge, active, and deeply invested. We love this game. Let us see our heritage properly represented in campaign form – not in shadows or side missions, but as the stars of their own saga.
Give us Suleiman. Give us the Ottomans. Let history roar in Turkish.
We’re ready.
Sincerely,
A passionate AOE II player from Türkiye 🇹🇷
