With the latest patch, civilizations added after the Dynasties of India DLC are now moddable for voice lines.
I’ll be making a voice mod for the Three Kingdoms civs, starting with Shu, Wu, and Wei. They’ll still speak Chinese, but each will have its own distinct voice set, so they feel more unique and immersive in-game.
‘‘This will not be a data mod and won’t affect gameplay, so you can use it in ranked/multiplayer games.’’
I’m looking forward to working on this and sharing it with the community soon!
Could you also make it so that the Jurchens speak Manchu lines from AoE3? It won’t affect me personally since I don’t have the DLC and won’t get it until something is done about the 3K civs, but it would be nice for other people to have.
Both Khitan language and Tangut language have been dead languages, but they can be replaced by Daur language and Qiang language. I think that’s also very interesting. To be honest, Wei’s, Shu’s and Wu’s voice should also be mixture of various types. Wei was consist by many areas of North China, Shu was joined by people from Hebei, Jingzhou and Southwest China, Wu mainly included Jianghuai and Wuyue.
If there is Swiss civ, the voice should also include multiple languages.
The Swiss confederation was formed at start by germanic speaking cantons.
Today the german suiss people speak the standard german language (based on the middle german language) and the Swiss German a dialect of the upper german. Latter more region were added to Switzerland who spoke other language : Franco-provencal, Old french in the north est, Romansh and italian in the south. I think it’s better than a civilization speak only one language.
So a swiss civilization can speak like the Teutons but it’s better than she speak modern Swiss German a dialect of the upper german or late medieval swiss german at best.
I thought about using Manchu, but villagers don’t have that voice. I think it would feel inconsistent if they spoke Chinese and the soldiers spoke Manchu.
Hey, glad you liked it!
For some reason I don’t really know, the modded unit voices are treated as “sound” instead of “voice.” Because of that, even if you turn down the voice volume, the modded sounds stay at 100%. I tried to balance them so they match the regular unit voices when both settings are equal, but it causes issues for players who don’t keep the two at the same volume setting.
Actually, they could fix this bug if they wanted to, but they still haven’t fixed another issue I recorded and sent them a video of two years ago. So I’m not very hopeful.
Yeah, I saw it. The CaptureAge team is doing a great job with the voice sets.
Jurchens now has its own separate voice sets instead of sharing the same one with the Chinese.
Both mods use Mandarin voice sets, but they’re different from the one used by the in-game Chinese. In the Manchu version, the military units speak Manchu.
You can access the Jurchen mod and my other mods in the in-game mods section by searching for ‘Walena’.
[This mod doesn’t affect gameplay and works in ranked/multiplayer.]
