The Feitoria. Everyone knows it. Portuguese Unique Building that generates infinite resources over time. With the only downside being that it takes 20 pop space.
And, personally, I think it needs to be changed because, in my experience at least, games vs Portuguese become a matter of having to break into a heavily fortified base all at once, because if you don’t then they effectively don’t lose any resources and can afford to simply wait the game out until the map runs out of resources.
Infinite resources in multiplayer is, in my opinion, a poor design for an RTS, but given that the Feitoria is already part of the Portuguese’s identity it would be bad form to simply demand it be removed from the game.
Therefore I’ve a couple of suggestions on how it could be changed to be more fair (I think)
- There is a special building that can be found on certain maps in AoMR called the Trading Post. When captured the player can select one of the 3 main resources to generate over time. This could be the Feitoria. Make it a more strategic building that requires choices to be made through the game regarding what resource is most needed at any given time rather than getting all of them.
- Make the Feitoria generate resources based on the amount of natural resources left on the map. The more that is left, the more is generated. This would incentivise the player to be more present on the map to protect their resources rather than being content with wasting everyone’s time until the map runs out of resources.
