Buccaneer Unit Severely Bugged: Cover Mode, Unit tags, Techs, and More

:arrow_forward: ISSUE EXPERIENCED

Buccaneers, the pirate upgrade available to Haiti through a home city card, gains a ranged attack. This unit is severely bugged. The issues include:

  • The ranged attack value does not change when the unit is in cover mode
  • Despite lacking the tags “Rifle Infantry” or “Gunpowder Infantry”, the unit benefits from Counter-Infantry Rifling, Paper Cartridges, and Flint Lock. This may be intended behavior, but the lack of tags makes this difficult to counter
  • Despite having a ranged attack, they will still default to melee if out of melee range but still close to the target (seems to be around 4 range)

  • 100% of the time / matches I play (ALWAYS)

:arrow_forward: REPRODUCTION STEPS

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Play as France
  2. Send Advanced Arsenal card
  3. Revolt to Haiti
  4. Send Letters of Marque card
  5. Train pirates
  6. Check attack and hp after researching arsenal techs
  7. Put the unit in cover mode
  8. Attack something at close range but outside melee range

:arrow_forward: EXPECTED RESULT

  1. Cover mode should halve ranged attack, like for all other attacks and units
  2. Tags should be added to Buccaneers appropriate to the techs that boost them or these techs should not apply
  3. The unit should only attack in melee when in melee range
