This unit needs a buff. It needs attack/hp/cost adjustments. Also logistica effect should be applied to the elite version automatically.
Giving the full effect of logistica to the elite would make it a brutal upgrade so how about giving the first +3 or +4 bonus to the regular one then indeed the full +6 + trample damage to the elite ?
Another known weakness of the cata is low pierce armour for heavy cav.
One thing only I have to say:
If Cataphract, and especially the castle age Cataphract, doesn’t have already shown an increase in its use due to the new infantry-popular environment, then it certainly needs a buff towards its specialization.
I’ve hated it when I learned Gurjara Camels cost-effectively beat them, which should have never happened.
Other than that, I don’t think they need a buff, especially toward their HP or pierce armor. They are supposed to be countered by well-microed archers or heavy cavalries. Cataphracts are still very good units even though these are not a hard counter.
Give Byzantines Blast Furnace. That would sort it out. 
I, on the other hand, think it is good the way it is. The Cataphract has always been a good unit. In fact, so good, that it was the original reason why its upgrades were always very expensive. Then discounted (finally) not too long ago.
As if the Byzantines did not have cheap halberds to add in the mix…

Also as camels are an anti-cav counter unit, it’s not shocking to find 1 or 2 camel civs that can trade against the cataphract that’s first anti-infantry and secondarily resists anti-cav bonuses.

Far too big of a buff, as the Byzantines are built aroun weak power units so having to rely on counter units + the cataphract against infantry.

I agree that logistica should be built into the unit like war elephant’s old UT. I also think they are quite expensive to train because of all the power creeping we are having right now. Almost every single new UU cavalry come out these days are much cheaper and just generally better.
Not even halbs are great vs cataphracts, the key is massed ranged fire or bruteforce melee cav.

Which means Gurjaras Camel should be cost effective against Cata.
