All the Kipchak (and Genitour) needs is to be affected by Steppe Husbandry I mean, the UT affects Cavalry Archers, but not the other two for some reason??.
Kipchak has FU Blacksmith and Parthian Tactic. They arenât weak against Archer. On the other hand, they feels very weak in Late Game. I agree with OP that their damage is really low in late game. I think Cumans should get +1 attack for Archers in Imperial Age, in this way their Cav archer and Kipchak will be stronger. I think also Cumans Cavalry speed bonus should be buffed to 6%/12%/18% speed.
I think they arenât that cheap. They are cheaper on gold yes, but they are fragile and low range. Thatâs why they die frequently. I think they arenât better than generic CA. Cav Archer needs more gold but they are easier to protect and use in every fight from behind thanks to +1 range and more hp.
Well, then why are you asking for a buff for cuman ca if they are not much different?
They donât have Bracer. Thatâs the point.
As I said before, I want fastest moving and fastest trained CA have some use. And the UT sucks anyway. So it is the most obvious target. And the new UT must not minimize the differences. So extra attack, additional projectile, attack bonus vs ram/siege or even building are bad.
Then there will be very limited way to buff their CA in order not to overlap with other civ CA
Thatâs what matters. Cumans have the full wood tech tree, so the wood cost is extremely manageable. Itâs not unreasonable to run 70+ farm economies on ~15 wood villagers with the wood upgrades, and itâs not hard to simply lay 30 less farms, have 45 on wood, and make Hussar and Kipchak basically all game.
They arenât âbetterâ than CA. They do the CA job differently than generic CA. The difference being theyâre basically half the gold cost, and when supplemented with even a small amount of frontline support the cost in turnover becomes increasingly negligible.
A cuman player can afford to have more Kipchak on the field than just about anyone can have CA, save the Huns in early Imp before the gold runs short. Thatâs the offset for the Kipchak. Statistically speaking, it doesnât look incredible as a unit, but it has very consistent damage and requires precise control to make the most out of. Itâs more like an exaggerated CA in every way. Strong massed raiders with high disengage and micro potential (even substantially higher than normal CA) but fragile if left unchecked and forgotten (even substantially more fragile than normal CA) and the low cost helps immeasurably with that.
Of course castles are a bottleneck - however the Cumans should generally have a leg up when getting those down with an extra TC in feudal compared to a standard civ, or CA civs generally, and they donât suffer much in creation speed either. From my experience, they are worth the effort to tech into, and their return absolutely justifies their cost.
So, I repeat. No.
