Played AOM since 2005, Sekhmet has always been the poor child of RA/SET, citadel giving only 10 pop more is not enough in comparison of the overall pop limit of retold, while citadel had its advantage on legacy with the pop limitation, on retold however citadel pop advantage is useless, making the citadell probably the worst gp in game currently.
I think there is many ways the devs could buff the citadel :
- Provides farms around the tc while casted - OR a kind of a plenty vault only providing food for example.
- Cheaper mercenaries coming from the citadel
- Reusable on another citadel to improve the stats
- Buff the pop, at least 25 more pop
Yeah Slings of the Sun etc from sekhmet, it’s all good, but the GP is TRASH and should be buffed imo.
Food for thoughts.

To be fair you can recast it now for 30 pop with the standard 3 TC. So maybe just make it cheaper to recast? It’s not like it’s indestructible anyway.
I love your Idea of cheaper merc from a citadel. They feel really unutilized.
Yes but recasting a GP is part of the whole game, the point here is that the GP on its own is just trash, you get much more value from recasting any other heroic age gp than this one, yes the pop advantage stays but on a regular 1v1 or tg, you won’t be able to recast it before the 20 min mark, it cost 150 favor which is way too high for a 10 pop advantage imo.
Value is all relative to the cost, thats why I suggested to reduce the cost, so it is recastable earlyer, more than other GP.
Just imagine if it cost 75 or even less instead of 150.
And if you want pop buff, 25 is way over the top. Lets see Isis bonus- 5 vs 3, 1.66 times more. So 15-17 pop will be a more grounded increase.
The only buff I would give Citadel would be to make a Citadel stronger with more Hit Points, Hack Armor, Attack, Range and Garrison capacity.

same, defensive buildings are already incredibly lacking, right now the benefit of citadel is mainly psychological. It would be nice if the citadel actually had the stats to back itself up as a defensive tool. Especially compared to the absurd power of some of the other heroic age god powers, which can be used much more freely there is definetly room to buff Citadel up by quite a lot.

If the Citadel’s goal is to help you defend your base, then it might as well have an aura that boosts the attack and hit points of nearby units. An example of this are the Forts of Puebla (Mexico) from AOE3.
Also, the Citadel is more or less equivalent to a Migdol Stronghold in terms of its defensive capabilities, so its reuse cost should have no ramping cost (Its base cost is 150f, and its ramping cost is +50f, so with each recast it increases to 150f → 200f → 250f…), for the same reason that the Asgardian Bastion has no ramping cost (It always costs 100f and can be reduced to 40f with the Ring Oath tech), in both cases they are Fort-like buildings, which cost mostly normal resources and very little favor. It is much more convenient to build more Migdol Strongholds before recasting the Citadel, and the results are similar.
