:backhand_index_pointing_down: DESCRIBE THE ISSUE IN DETAIL (below). LIMIT TO ONE BUG PER THREAD.

After Microsoft’s major overhaul of the naval system, the 7 ship units that were originally split across two pages are now consolidated into a single page. While this change streamlines the UI, it has introduced critical hotkey conflicts that were not present before.

Previously, each ship had a dedicated hotkey, and the two-page layout eliminated overlaps. For example, both Trade Cog and Fire Ship were assigned to the hotkey W, but they were on separate pages, so the game could correctly interpret which unit the player intended to build.

Now, with all ships on one page, these hotkey conflicts have become unavoidable. For instance:

Fishing Ship and Demolition Ship both use the hotkey Q.

This is not an isolated case—several other ship units now share identical hotkeys, and the issue has not been addressed in subsequent patches.

This creates a significant problem, especially in competitive play. Imagine pressing Q during a critical match, only to waste valuable resources on a fleet of Demolition Ships when you meant to produce Fishing Ships. This not only disrupts gameplay but can also lead to unfair losses due to a preventable UI oversight.

Additionally, I have noticed another related issue: many naval technologies that were originally researched at the Dock have been moved to the University. However, when I checked the hotkeys, these same techs still appear in the Dock’s hotkey list and retain their original bindings. This raises serious concerns about potential hotkey conflicts between the Dock and the University. If these techs are now researched at the University but still have hotkeys registered to the Dock, it is highly likely that pressing those hotkeys will either produce unintended results or conflict with other techs/units at the University.

I urge the dev team to address this as soon as possible:
Resolve the ship hotkey conflicts on the consolidated naval page.
Remove the hotkey bindings for techs that are no longer researched at the Dock to prevent conflicts with the University and other buildings.

:play_button: REPRODUCTION STEPS

:backhand_index_pointing_down: List CLEAR and DETAILED STEPS we can take to reproduce the issue ourselves… Be descriptiv e!

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Open any of the Docks

  2. Press “Q” and you will find that the Dock no longer produce fishing boats

:backhand_index_pointing_down: What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not prese nt?

Hotkeys should be unique for each ship unit, or the two-page layout should be restored to maintain original functionality.

Techs moved to the University should have their hotkeys removed from the Dock to avoid conflicts.

  • None. Sorry for this.

Did you change the Dock hotkeys prior to the update that introduced the naval overhaul changes? Could you try restoring all hotkeys to default and check if you still have this issue? Make a backup of your hotkeys first. Thanks for the report.
